The Dream of Speed Sale

On June 30, the Jockey Club of Sorocaba hosted another event organized by Ana Dantas Ranch and their guests. The fifth
annual Dream of Speed Sale, which offered quality genetics of speed for the public, was held in conjunc- tion with the finals of three races—the GP Colt of the Future, GP King of Speed and GP Queen of Speed—in the city of Sorocaba, São Paulo.
For the 2012 edition of the sale, 55 lots were selected from foals and mares, both domestic and imported, with the most current and established pedigrees for speed such as SC Chiseled In Stone, Corona For Me, Gold Medal Jess, Royal Quick Dash, and others. Also sold were 92 stallion covers for a total of R$1,181,000, including breedings to such stallions as Separatist, Silver Wild SNL (Big Purple), SC Chiseled In Stone and Tres Seis.
Promoted by Ana Dantas Ranch, which was founded by owner Jonathan Dantas, with the advice of Bob Düwel and work of the MBA Auctions and auctioneer Nilson Francisco Genovesi, and even broadcast live by New Channel, the session achieved excellent results, with sales of $2,800,000 according to data provided by the auctioneer in charge.
“It was very satisfying. The auction met our expectations, and was very good,” said Jonathan Dantas, of Ana Dantas Ranch.
“We sold some very fine foals, super-producing broodmares, as well as the stallion covers offered. This is the way to race in Brazil, and is what the market has accepted,” added Bob Düwel.
Among the highlights was the highest-seller Hoping Fishers si 92 (Fishers Dash-Signedformore), a AAA mare and producer of champions. She was acquired by Raniery Mazzilli for $252,000, and was sold by Ana Dantas and RM Ranch.
Among the yearling fillies, Toll Tunna Corona (SC Chiseled In Stone-Summer Toll) was the highest-seller. She was sold for $216,000 and transferred hands from Machado Stud Farm to Haras Fazenda Regina. Barac For Me AD (Corona For Me-Hypocrisy Dash) was
the highest-selling male yearling, being auctioned for $196,800 to Viva Bahia.
One of the highlights of this event was the presen- tation of Separatist, the sire of earners of more than $15,800,000 in the United States. This stallion is
one of the legends of the horse world and has come to Brazil, bought by Brazilians, surprising everyone.
“Separatist is a legend, and the fact that he now belongs to Brazil’s history is amazing. Few animals,

such as Corona Cartel, have this status, which is wonderful for us. He is bred very specifically to run and the demand for his cover has surprised us. The presentation during the auction was fantastic, every- one is very pleased,” said Düwel.
Counting the covers sold at auction and others sold privately, Separatist has already booked 70 mares in Brazil. That number is expected to reach 100 by the end of the year.
“With this demand and more mare owners inquiring about him, he will have more than 100 foals in his first crop born in Brazil, which is fantastic. We are sure that when they debut on the tracks, it will be a success.”
