HAIR TESTING AS CONDITION OF ENTRY
For Remington Park Quarter Horse Meet in 2019
by Debbie Schauf, Executive Director, Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association
FREQUENT QUESTIONS
• The OHRC has NOTHING to do with this testing requirement. The testing is a condi- tion of entry requirement implemented by Remington Park.
• OQHRA as a service to horsemen is providing a way for horsemen to obtain the required tests.
• The $250 Participation Purse is only paid back after the first start in an OVERNIGHT race.
• The 45 days start the next day after the hair
is pulled and is good for 45 days from that date. The test results must be reported before a horse is eligible to enter any race.
• Turnaround time is 12-15 days for results
on horses collected by OQHR A at Remington Park.
a How do I know if my Vet is approved? We are not approving vets, but they must be a state licensed vet in the state where the hair is pulled. The Vet must COMPLETE the Certification Form included in the Off-Site Collection Kit if your sample is not collected by OQHRA at Remington Park
• There is NO guarantee on turn-around time for Off-Site Collections. DNA verification may take longer than 7 business days and the off-site collection process could take as much as 3 weeks to receive results.
• If I paid $250 with Nomination payment into Oklahoma Fut./Derby, do I owe another $250 if I choose off-site collection? No, but you risk not getting results back in time for entry.
• What day is the first day I can test to be good for later trials? Ask OQHRA for spe- cific 45 day windows depending on which set of trials.
• Off-site Collection is ONLY available
for Registered Quarter Horses. **Paints and Appaloosas MUST be presented at Remington Park for testing. **
• Off-Site collection requests will only receive a Kit if the testing fee is pre-paid and the horse to be tested is REGISTERED with AQHA. It can take longer to receive results of off-site testing due to the DNA verifica- tion requirement.
• Off-Site Kits will be sent from OQHRA
to Requestor via First Class mail. If the Requestor prefers Overnight delivery, OQHRA will accept a Credit Card payment and ship the kit via Overnight method.
• If hauling in for testing at Remington Park: you must schedule testing a minimum of two days ahead of arrival. This will elimi- nate problems at the stable gate. To enter the grounds at Remington Park you must meet the track requirements for original Coggins, health certification, and vaccination record.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO HORSEMEN
It is the goal of Remington Park and OQHRA to provide a race meeting of the highest quality and free of any horse racing practices that are corrupt, incompetent, dishonest, or unprincipled. The fact that every horse must provide a negative hair test prior to entry will provide assurance to every owner and fan wagering on the races that the track is making significant effort to ensure horses are not unfairly competing with an advantage from prohibited substances.
