This month was a month of record-breaking and celebration for Painted Turnpike. At the Lewis Wartchow Paint & Appaloosa Stakes
at Fair Meadows on July 8, Painted Turnpike recorded a final time of :17.452 over 350
yards. Besting the field of five, the 2013 bay solid Paint-bred stallion earned $8,460. His earnings launched him ahead of the legendary Got Country Grip to become the new lifetime leading Paint racehorse by money earned with $363,872 banked.
Got Country Grip, a 2003 bay solid gelding, had amassed $361, 881 over his racing career and had held the title of lifetime leading money earning Paint Horse for over a decade. By Country Quick Dash and out of Got A Grip, the gelding definitely earned his title by winning five consecutive World Champion Solid Paint- Bred racing titles from 2005-2009. There have been many challengers to his title, but none have succeeded until Painted Turnpike.
Painted Turnpike has made quite the name for himself, being the first horse to sweep the Speedhorse Triple Crown by winning all three 2015 Grade 1 Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Futurity races. In 2015 and 2016, he was named World Champion Running Solid Paint-Bred, as well as earning four more year-end Champion racehorse titles.
By PYC Paint Your Wagon QH and out of Royal Quick Flash mare High Class Turnpike, Painted Turnpike is owned and was also bred by Nolan Pevehouse of Webbers Falls, Oklahoma. With his trainer Matt Whitekiller and jockey Cody Smith, Painted Turnpike has netted 17 wins and three second place finishes in 20 starts.

On June 30-July 4 at the St Paul Rodeo in St Paul, Oregon, SS Streakers R Us—a 2002 brown solid Paint-bred gelding by Scenics Symbol and out of The Sixth Sense QH—and Morgan Breaux clocked a time of :17.59 and earned $6,093 for the second-place win. This Paint racer is owned by Morgan and Michelle Breaux of Tomball, TX, and was bred by Gary and Lee Ann Rust of Hawley, TX. SS Streakers
R Us also placed second at the July 1-4 Molalla Buckeroo Rodeo at the Molalla, Oregon event. SS Streakers R Us and Morgan Breaux ran a time of :17.41.
Lil Gracie Dude took home second place
at the July 5-10 Rooftop Rodeo in Estes Park, Colorado. Lil Gracie Dude is owned by John Fulton Murray III of Fort Worth, TX, and
was bred by Glenn Watson of Paris, TX. The 2000 sorrel solid Paint-bred gelding is by Smart Lil Crimson and out of Gracies Doll QH. Lil Gracie Dude and Tillar Murray ran a time of :17.42.
Famous Perkfection proved victorious at the July 5-8 Southern States NBHA Triple Crown in Perry, Georgia. The 2013 black solid gelding and Margo Crowther ran a time of :14.783
to become the 1D Champion in race 1 of the event. He is owned and bred by Donald Rejc of Kenockee, MI, and he’s by Famous Bugs QH and out of Miss Sugar Perks.
Six Bugs Runnin and Kara Posch took home fourth place at the July 6-9 Hamel Rodeo & Bull Ridin Bonanza in Hamel, MN. The team ran a time of :16.07. A 2004 brown solid Paint- bred gelding by Figure Me Special QH and
out of Little Baby Buggie, he is owned by Kara Posch of Holdingford, MN, and was bred by Carrol Cass of Mansfield, AR.
At the June 28-July 2 Airdrie Pro Rodeo in Airdrie, Alberta, Dash Of Sunbeam and Rainy Robinson brought home third place with a time of :15.232. A 2005 sorrel solid Paint-bred mare by Streak A Dash QH and out of Sonnys Golden Beam, she is owned by Rainy Robinson of Caldwell, ID, and was bred by Elvin and Mary Young of Bliss, ID
