Many experienced running Quarter Horse breeders have expressed the notion that it takes a special kind of Thoroughbred to breed Quarter Horses. Some of those special Thoroughbreds would include Three Bars, Top Deck, Depth Charge, Hempen, Be Sure Now, Azure Te, Raise Your Glass and Beduino. The basic role of these Thoroughbreds is to serve as an outcross on the horses that have excelled on the track during a given point in time. We could say that for a stallion to be a good outcross, he has to have the “right stuff ” to advance the success of the breed.
A good breeder has to always be on the lookout for the right kind of horse to serve as his outcross. The stallions listed above were found and utilized by breeders to add the “right stuff ” to the
