FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Dear Members,
At our last Annual Meeting, the membership
voted to eliminate Proxies and have Mail In Bal- lots instead. This is a two-part process. The first part is to nominate members in good standing to be placed on the ballot for 2021. These forms were mailed to each current member on Sept. 14th and must be returned with a postmark of Sept. 28th or earlier. A return envelope includ- ing postage has been provided so please fill them out and put them back in the mail by the deadline. The actual Mail In Ballots will be sent
out in December to all 2021 members and must be returned with a postmark of no later than Jan. 4th. We will start accepting 2021 member- ships on Nov. 1st, 2020, and will be mailing you the forms along with a letter to remind you to renew your membership and register your foals before they age on Jan. 1st. If you should miss the deadline, you can still come to the Annual Meeting on Jan. 28, 2021, in Albuquerque and vote. We will be accepting memberships up until the meeting starts for anyone that wishes to vote. All of the nominations and ballots will be counted by a representative of the Sanchez, Mowrer, & Desiderio law firm.
We would like to thank Lowell Neumayer
and the staff at the All American Ruidoso Horse Sale Company for all the work they put in and for making sure that we were still able to have a sale this year! It was not what we are used to but are very thankful none the less. The top New Mexico Bred sellers are listed in this issue. We would like to thank Tim Jennings of ThoroughbredAuctions. com for putting together the online sale for our Thoroughbreds. I think all in all, these sales did pretty good.
One of the events that was cancelled this year was our Summer Party that we had planned to have our Awards Ceremony at for our 2019 Champions at Ruidoso Downs. We usually in- clude a photo of each of the trophy presentations in our magazine but had to mail the trophies to the recipients instead this year. We had asked people to send us photos of themselves with their trophy, but we only received one back. Thank you to Mark & Annette McCloy for sending your photo and for including Mister Riptide in it! What an incredible horse! Look for this photo in this issue.
Thank you to All American Ruidoso Downs & the Downs at Albuquerque for running your meets during this difficult time. We know it was not easy to pull off without casino revenues and with a very limited number of spectators allowed to attend. We can only hope that things start getting back to normal soon. Who would have thought this would go on so long?
Please stay safe and good luck at the races! Mary Barber, NMHBA Executive Director
