On Feb. 25, 2017, the Mexican Association of Quarter Horse Breeders and Horsemen (AMCCCCM) held the annual ceremony
that recognized and awarded 22 horses and 7 individuals or stables that stood out in the 2016 race season at the Hipodromo de las Americas. The event was led by Antonio Lobeto Tamez, who is president of the association that is a subsidiary of the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA). The AQHA was represented by its President Sandy Arledge, Executive Vice President Craig Huffhines, Chief Racing Officer Janet VanBebber, International Executive Director Anna Morrison, and International Customer Service Liaison Betty Bernal Berge.
At the beginning of the ceremony, a special rec- ognition was given to Guillermo Elizondo Collard, owner of Rancho Natoches in the State of Sinaloa, for his long and fruitful career as a breeder and owner of Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred horses.
The achievements of AQHA and AMCCCCM member Enrique Carrión Álvarez were also celebrated, that in 2016 culminated in the triumph of EC Jet One. The colt, who is bred and owned by Enrique Carrión Álvarez, won the All American Derby-G1 and earned the title of Champion Three Year Old and Champion Three-Year-Old Colt.
Outstanding and widely recognized was the performance of Valentino Mystery, winner of the Garañones and Subasta Selecta Auction futurities, the two most important races for auctioned individuals at the Hipódromo de las Américas in 2015. This made him the highest money earner in the history of said track, earning $232,706 dollars in his first season. As a result, he earned the titles of AQHA Mexican Champion, Champion Mexican Two Year Old and Horse of the Year in Mexico, with Cuadra Arenas winning the two-horse trailer that is annually awarded by the AQHA to the Mexican athlete with the most money earned each season.
Raised in Tulancingo, Hidalgo, Mexico, by Alejan- dro Arenas Badillo, Valentino Mystery was presented as a yearling in the Selecta Auction of the Hipódromo de las Américas and was repurchased to be a part of his Cuadra Arenas. In the ring, he reached a price of 150,000 pesos (approximately $8,865 U.S. dollars).
He is by Mr Queens Mystery (by Shazoom) and out of Valentina High, who was designated Broodmare of the Year.
As for the people and stables, we highlight the Cuadra San Lázaro de Arará. Winner of five stakes races with their imported A Remarkable Perry, One
Shining Ocean, and Agent Provocateur, Cuadra San Lázaro de Arará won the title of Champion Cuadra by stakes races won.
Cuadra La Presita was the solid Leader in Breeding, since from its mares and stallions came the runners Una Sola, El Senior Chickuma, Senor Cawboy, Sola Zevi, and Soliat, who together on the track earned six stakes wins.
Moisés González García repeated as the Champion Rider by stakes races won, adding an additional eight of these important competitions to his record.

y Caballistas de Caballos Cuarto de Milla (AMCCCCM), realizó el 25 de febrero de 2017
la ceremonia anual para reconocer y premiar a 22 caballos y 7 personas o cuadras que destacaron en
la temporada de carreras 2016 en el Hipódromo
de Las Américas. El acto estuvo encabezado por el señor Antonio Lobeto Tamez, Presidente de dicha asociación, filial de la American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA), la cual estuvo representada por su Presidenta Sandy Arledge; por Craig Huffhines, Vicepresidente Ejecutivo; Janet VanBebber,
Gerente de Carreras; Anna Morrison, Directora Ejecutiva Internacional y Betty Bernal Berge, Enlace Internacional de Servicio al Cliente.
Al inicio de la ceremonia se otorgó un recono- cimiento especial al Ing. Guillermo Elizondo Col- lard, propietario del Rancho Natoches, en el Estado de Sinaloa, por su larga y fructífera trayectoria como criador y propietario de caballos de carreras Cuarto de Milla y Purasangre.
De igual manera se distinguieron los logros del Abogado Enrique Carrión Álvarez, miembro de AQHA y de la AMCCCCM, que en 2016 culminaron con el triunfo del potro EC Jet One, de su crianza
y propiedad, en el All American Derby.- G1, que le valieron para ser designado Campeón de Tres Años y Potro Campeón de Tres Años.
Sobresaliente y reconocido ampliamente fue el desempeño de Valentino Mystery, ganador de los Futu- ritys Garañones y Subasta Selecta, los dos más impor- tantes para ejemplares subastados en el Hipódromo de Las Américas en 2015. Esto lo convirtió en el máximo ganador de dinero en la historia de dicho hipódromo, sumando $232,706 dólares en su primera temporada. En consecuencia le mereció los títulos de AQHA Mexican Champion, Campeón Dos Añero Castrado
