Ivoriona Leads Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Triple Crown High Point Standings
Ivoriona (#10) leads at every call and PHQ Goodbye Earl (#5) puts forth a strong finish to dead-heat for the win in the $239,400 Speedhorse Graham Paint & Appaloosa-G1 Futurity at Remington Park on June 4.
The Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Triple Crown awards two Champions - The Triple Crown Champion and The High Point Champion. 2016 marks the fifth year of the Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Triple Crown.
The first leg was the $239,400 Speedhorse Graham Paint & Appaloosa Futurity, the richest Paint & Appaloosa Futurity in the world, held at Remington Park on June 4. The race ended in a 1-length dead-heat for the win by the gelding PHQ Goodbye Earl (Awesome Chrome-Sayonara, Judys Lineage) and the filly Ivoriona (Ivory James-Friona, Texas Hero). Both horses received 10 points for their victories.
The second leg of the Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Triple Crown was the $89,100 Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Futurity held at Fair Meadows on July 30. The race was won by Truck Yeah (Royal Quick Flash-Crazy Mother Trucker, Sweet First Down), who received every call en route to a 1/2-length victory.
Thus, the chances of having a Triple Crown winner was squashed and Painted Turnpike (PYC Paint Your Wagon-High Class Turnpike, Royal Quick Flash) remains the only horse to ever do so when he took all three of the races last year.
The next stop on the road to the 2016 Speedhorse Triple Crown High Point Champion will be in the trials to the $100,000 estimated Speedhorse Lone Star Park Paint & Appaloosa Futurity-G1 at Lone Star Park on Oct. 14, and then on to the finals on Oct. 29.
The Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Triple Crown High Point Champion awards points according to finishing positions in each race, and the winner will receive additional awards including a $5,000 cash bonus.
As it stands now following the second leg, Ivoriona leads the point standings with 18, followed by PHQ Goodbye Earl with 13, Truck Yeah with 10, and both Col Bucks and CRM Radio Flyer with 9 points each.
Good luck to all!
Truck Yeah goes wire-to-wire winning the $89,100 Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Futurity-G1 by 1/2-length at Tulsa Fair Meadows on July 30.
