  The first yearling sale of the season was held July 29-30 in San Antonio, Texas. The 19th annu- al Texas Quarter Horse Association Yearling Sale saw 171 horses sell over two days, marking a slight drop over last year. The sale average was slightly down, as was the median compared to 2015.
“We appreciate all who consigned horses and of course the buyers,” stated TQHA Ex- ecutive Director Val Clark. “We wish everyone the best of luck with their purchase and look forward to seeing these great babies in the TQHA Sale Futurity trials next year.”
Hip #81, This Is An Eagle (One Famous Eagle- Lady Lilia, First Down Dash), sold for $100,000 to Mary G. Thompson. Consigned by Pete A. Scar- mardo, Granada Farms, Agent, the sorrel gelding is out of the stakes producer Lady Lilia. The mare is a half-sister to stakes winners Desirio, Corona For The Lady, and No Ordinary Love.
Hip #203, Cindys Dynasty (FDD Dynasty- Cindys First CD, Corona Cartel), was the second-highest seller at $95,000. The bay filly was consigned by Haddad Ranch and was pur- chased by Carlos S. Lozano. Cindys Dynasty is out of a stakes winner/multiple stakes producer and is from the family of All American Futu- rity winner Falling In Love Again.
The leading buyer was Paragon Farms, purchasing four horses for $147,000. The leading consignor/agent was Bobby D. Cox, selling 28 horses for $556,600. The leading sire was Tempting Dash with 12 head selling for $285,500 and the leading sire by average with two or more sold was FDD Dynasty with two head selling for an average of $55,500.
