OQHRA Betting On The Cure for Rein In Cancer Remington Park, Oklahoma City, OK • June 4, 2016
The 2016 Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association (OQHRA) Betting on the Cure for Rein In Cancer was held at Remington Park on June 4. Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin signed an executive order proclaiming the
day “Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Day”
in recognition of the rich race card that day. According to OQHRA Executive Directory Debbie Schauf, “Fun fundraising activities in honor of our Betting on the Cure night at the races,” were held. There were three separate auctions held for the event: a silent auction, a raffle auction, and a live auction, with every dollar raised going to the charitable non-profit organization Rein In Cancer to provide support to the Shirley Bowman Nutrition Clinic at the Stephenson Cancer Center in Oklahoma City. Rein In Cancer also runs a program to provide financial support for any “horse industry” indi- vidual diagnosed with cancer if they request assistance. The Juno’s Request Stakes was the annual “Pink Race” in honor of all cancer victims and survivors.
