win in the Lucky Dog BFA Futurity. The dam of this horse is Damoney by Mr Eye Opener. Damoney is out of Such An Easy Effort, a daughter of the mare Easy Kiss
by Easy Jet. Yes, we have another breeding pattern of 5 X 4 to Easy Jet. Another added note: Gimme Damoney, Sparkinson and Time Well Traveled were all developed and shown at one point by the Flying W Ranch, owned by Jason and Leslie Willis.
The seventh leading money winner is Tell Em Belle and she has earnings of $30,503.41. The highlight of her career came in 2012 when she was a qualifier for the NFR. The dam of this mare is Teller Corona by Corona Cartel by Holland Ease. Holland Ease was out of Easy Henrietta by Easy Jet. This give us another 5 X 5 breeding pattern to Easy Jet.
Three Carat Diamond, the eighth leading money winner with earnings of $27,425.42, has a breeding pattern of 5 X 3 to Easy Jet. Tres Movidas is the eleventh leading money winner of $16,848.87 and he has a breeding pattern of 5 X 5 to Easy Jet. The fifteenth leading money winner is Three Folly Six with earnings of $10,991.23. She has a breeding pattern of 5 X 3 to Easy Jet and is also the second AQHA World Champion Junior Barrel Racing Horse sired by Tres Seis.
We see that nine of the top 15 money winners sired by Tres Seis give us a blood affinity with Easy Jet between Tres Seis and the mares that produced these foals. When we define a “nick” as the mating of a stallion with a group of mares that produces outstanding foals, we often see a blood affinity between the stallion and those mares. In this case, Easy Jet provides the blood affinity. This is not necessarily true linebreeding.
Of the 15 horses, we have eight that were out of mares from the Dash For Cash sire line. Of these eight, we have four with a tie to Easy Jet in the dam’s pedigree. We also have two mares from the Beduino TB sire line, and one of those has the Easy Jet tie in the dam’s pedigree. We have two mares from The Signature sire line and of those two, one of them has the tie to Easy Jet in the pedigree of the dam. We have one mare each from
the Hempen TB sire line and one from the Doc Bar sire line through Doc O’Lena. The Doc Bar cross has a tie to Easy Jet on the
mare’s side of the pedigree. The Hempen TB line mare has a tie to Easy Jet in the mare’s pedigree. The last mare gives us a Streakin Six sire line cross and, of course, that gives us a pedigree with Easy Jet in the mare’s pedigree.
The last observation we will make is that we have two crosses to the Dash For Cash
sire line through his grandson Dash Ta Fame on this list. The dam of Dash Ta Fame is Sudden Fame by Tiny’s Gay. Thus, we have linebreeding to Tiny’s Gay and his full sister Tiny’s Delight. The money winners are SR Schill B Commando with the earnings of $16,848.87, and Tresarainbow with earnings of $13,310.75. Tresarainbow gives the pedigree a third cross to Tiny Watch through his third dam Watch Mighty May by Tiny Watch.
The interesting part is that outside the multiple crosses to Easy Jet that appear in
the majority of the pedigrees we have looked at, you don’t find much linebreeding or inbreeding in these pedigrees between the sire and the dam. We find most of the ancestor replication of relatives outside the fourth generation. The noticeable exceptions include Dashin Czar (3 X 3 Streakin Six), Suzytresseis (3 X 4 Streakin Six), SR Schill B Commando (3 X 4 Tiny’s Delight and Tiny’s Gay), and Tresarainbow (4 X 5 X 4 Tiny Watch).
When we look at the pedigree of Ochoa, the all-time leading money winner in Quarter Horse racing and a son of Tres Seis, we find a familiar pedigree situation. The dam of Ochoa is Stolis Fortune, who is out of Splashing Fortune by Six Fortune by Streakin Six. This gives us a 3 X 4 breeding pattern to Streakin
Six and a 5 X 6 breeding pattern to Easy Jet. The other big money winners we listed earlier were Tres Passes, Tres Friends and Wild Six. Tres Friendsis3X5X6toStreakinSixand5X7X 8X6toEasyJet.WildSixis3X5toStreakin Sixand5X7toEasyJet.WildSixisalso3X
5 to Tiny’s Delight and Tiny’s Gay. Tres Passes has no double breeding to Easy Jet, but he has a breeding pattern that is 3 X 3 to the full brother and sister Tiny’s Delight and Tiny’s Gay.
Gwendolyn Eaves set out to breed good racehorses and she succeeded, as her record shows. But, I wonder if she ever thought about how her breeding program, through Tres Seis, would cross over and have an influence on modern barrel racing.
Tres Seis is following along with this barrel racing success with his foals having Equi-Stat barrel racing earnings of $682,862.04.
Dashin Czar, the leading barrel race money earner by Tres Seis with over $143,000 banked, won the 2013 Future Fortunes Juvenile Sires Slot Race Champion and the 2013 BFA Juvenile Futurity Champion.
Seis So Sweet, the second leading barrel race money earner by Tres Seis with earnings of nearly $117,000, was the 2014 Champion Junior Barrel Racing Horse, the 2011 Old Fort Days Futurity Champion, and has an IBHA World Championship in barrel racing.
Sparkinson, by Tres Seis, earned over $36,000 winning such races as the Ladies Barrel Race at the Panty Raid Barrel Race.
