with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.”
Q: If you could sit down and visit with anyone, past or present, who would it be?
A: Jesus, Muhammad, the Buddha ... you get the idea.
Q: What drink would your friends describe you as, and why?
A: I called a friend. He said, “Any bottle of beer because it’s simple and can be complex.” Makes no sense to me, either.
Q: Who’s your favorite athlete of all time, and why?
A: I’m a huge sports fan, so this is tough. I’ll go with Babe Ruth. We all know about his hitting prowess, but he would have been a Hall of Fame pitcher with a lifetime ERA of 2.77. In the World Series, he pitched 29 scoreless innings and was 3-0 with a 0.87 ERA. Jesse Owens completes the exacta. Jackie Robinson for the trifecta.
Q: If you were making a movie about yourself, who would you cast to play you, and why?
A: Charlie Chaplin in a silent movie, so I would keep my mouth shut.
Q: What’s one thing you don’t like about Quarter Horse racing?
A: We need to increasingly work towards replacing hypocrisy with integrity. It’s insane to make the same mistakes over and over. That goes for all of horse racing.
Q: What’s one thing you like about Quarter Horse racing?
A: Horsemen/horsewomen who are true horsemen/horsewomen and care for their animals that give us so much. That includes making sure they are cared for after their racing careers. It’s simple; just do what’s best for the horse. That, also, goes for all of horse racing.
