  Preliminary results for the 2015 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, which was held Sept. 4-6 during All American weekend, showed an over- all increase in the median price to $31,000 - up $1,000 over the past two sales. The sale aver- age on horses sold, without repurchases, was down slightly to $41,812 for 351 horses sold, compared to $44,828 last year on 347 horses sold. The sale grossed more than $14.6 million, excluding repurchases, and over $18.2 million, including repurchases. Eight of the ten horses in this year’s All American Futurity sold in the 2014 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale.
A total of 25 yearlings sold for $100,000 or more, including $300,000 high seller Hip#229 Bellissima Chocolata (Valiant Hero- Heartswideopen, Feature Mr Jess). Consigned by Julianna Hawn Holt and purchased by
the partnership of Jose R. Espinosa, La Feliz Montana Ranch LLC and Valeriano Racing Stables, the brown filly is by Champion sire/ Grade 1 winner Valiant Hero and out of 4-time Champion Heartswideopen. Her sec- ond dam, 2-time Champion Dashing Phoebe, is also the dam of additional Champion Special Phoebe.
The second-highest seller at $200,000 was Hip#423 Walk Thru Septacular (Walk Thru Fire-Septacular, Separatist). Consigned by Burns Ranch, Agent, and purchased by Abigail K. Kawananakoa, the sorrel colt is a full brother to Champion Separate Fire.
