DYNAMITE 123

Dynamite 123, a brown gelding racing for Preston Cloud and Barbara Dull, outran his long odds to win the Sept. 26, $310,000
Black Gold 350 Futurity at Will Rogers Downs in Claremore, Oklahoma.
Ridden by Mario Delgado for trainer Clint Crawford, Dynamite 123 covered the 350 yards in :17.392 and earned a lifetime-best 99 speed index while scoring his first victory in six outs.
Dynamite 123 was coming off of a fourth- place finish in the fourth of 10 trials on Sept. 12, opening day of the 29-day Will Rogers Downs fall meet.
As the eighth-fastest qualifier, Dynamite 123 was sent to post at odds of 57-1 and returned a $117.60 win mutuel.
“We always felt this horse had talent. We paid him into the (Grade 1) Heritage Place and All American futurities, and we wouldn’t have done that if we didn’t think he could run,” said conditioner Crawford.
“But, we’ve had trouble getting him to leave the gates fast,” Crawford continued. “He’s always been really good in the gates, he just didn’t want to break fast.
“He had a really good start in this race, and that’s what we’ve been looking for from him all year long,” added the trainer. “This horse has a big motor and has been stout at the end of his races.”

Dynamite 123 was bred by
T-Bill Stables Inc. of Clare,
Michigan, longtime breeders
whose homebreds include
2011 World Champion Cold Cash 123.
Dynamite 123’s sire, the 11-year-old First Down Dash stallion FDD Dynasty, was the sport’s Champion Two-Year-Old Colt in 2006 and the Champion Three-Year-Old Colt the following year.
Dynamite 123 is the first starter foaled by his dam, Tresor 123, a homebred seven-year- old daughter of Champion Tres Seis and a finalist in the 2011 Heritage Place Derby-G2 at Remington Park.
Dynamite 123’s second dam, the Chicks Beduino mare Barbs Beduino 123, was a final- ist in three derbies at Mt. Pleasant Meadows in Michigan in 2004.
The $124,000 winner’s share of the Black Gold 350 Futurity purse pushed Dynamite 123’s earnings to $126,818.
Crawford said that Dynamite 123 would be pointed toward the 440-yard Black Gold Futurity Championship-RG3 trials at Will Rogers on Oct. 31.
“He’s good-natured around the barn and does everything right,” said Crawford. “He’s
been really sound, and when he goes out on the track in the mornings he gallops strong and looks like a world champion.
“I think he’s going to be really good 400 or 440 horse,” he added. “We just need to
get him to leave the gates better than he has, and in this race it all came together for him.”
A Bee C (Apollitical Jess-Hollywood Caliente), the fastest qualifier, ran second, a nose behind Dynamite 123. James Flores rode the sorrel Oklahoma-bred gelding for owner Victory Farms and trainer Brian Muse.
Gene Cox’s Prized Wagon (Pyc Paint Your Wagon-First Prize Honey), who won his trial heat and was the 10th fastest qualifier, finished third in the finals. Agustin Silva rode the bay colt for trainer Donnie Strickland.
Viviens Fire (Mr Piloto-Fire With Class) was fourth, in a dead-heat for 5th were Jess Tempting (Tempting Dash-Jess For Profit) and Pyc Miss Bama (Pyc Paint Your Wagon- Miss Bama Jess), followed by Tons A Texas (Brimmerton-Eyema Texas Lady), VF Wheely Cute (Ivory James-Wheely Quick), Southern Lulu (Apollitical Jess-Southern Price) and odds-on favorite and second-fastest qualifier First Fancy Prize (Pyc Paint Your Wagon-First Prize Fancy).
