Down Dash. Queen Of Appeals was sired by First Down Dash. This gives Jess Good Candy a breeding pattern of 3 X 4 to First Down Dash.
Queen Of Appeals is out of Totally
Illegal by Tolltac by Beduino TB. The dam of Totally Illegal is Azures Marge by A Zure Request by Azure Te. The dam of Azures Marge was Dynamo Watch by Tiny Watch by Anchor Watch and out of Clabber Tiny. An added note: Tiny Watch brings us back to the Vessels Stallion Farm. Then we also see that First Down Dash, Tolltac and Beduino TB all stood at Vessels Stallion Farm.
The breeding pattern we see with the double breeding to First Down Dash is what they term Returning the Blood to the sire’s dam. Thus, we are line breeding to First Down Dash through Queen Of Appeals,
the dam of Good Reason SA, by putting a mare carrying the blood of First Down Dash on Good Reason SA. This breeding pattern is used to increase the influence of the dam on the foal by the line breeding pattern developed in the pedigree and, in this case, is increasing the influence of First Down Dash.
It is at this point that we bring in Favorite Trick, the Thoroughbred sire of Good Reason SA. Favorite Trick started his racing career being compared to the great Secretariat. Favorite Trick was the 1997 Horse of the Year, and the first two year old to win Horse of the Year since Secretariat did it in 1972. His two-year-old race record shows that he was eight-for-eight with a win in the Breeder’s Cup Juvenile-G1. He came back at three to win again but was never able to carry his speed over a distance.
Favorite Trick started his breed-
ing career at Walmac International in Lexington, Kentucky. He was later moved
to Florida and Cloverleaf Farms. He was then brought to Quarter Horse racing through the efforts of R. D. Hubbard and Paul Jones. Favorite Trick found a home in New Mexico standing at the JEH Stallion Station. Favorite Trick became a top sire with his Thoroughbred foals earning over $17 million, with 41 stakes horses includ- ing Yucatan, winner of such races as the Forego Handicap; Zoeling, winner of the Mr Jenney Handicap; Datrick, winner of the Kentucky Breeders Cup Stakes; and Sum Trick, winner of the Riley Allison Futurity.
Favorite Trick Quarter Horse starters have earned $4,177,957, with 60 ROM,
six stakes winners and four stakes placed runners from 82 starters. His stakes
horses include Champion Distance Horse Prankster CF, Tricky Dust ($428,581), and Favorite Cartel ($583,069). We have to note
