APHA Racing Committee member Lisa Mullinax has a long-lasting love of Paints running through her veins.

Like the Paint Horses they admire, APHA members are unique in their backgrounds and personalities. They wear their love of
Paints just as Paints wear their colors and pat- terns differently – they all have a distinct story to tell. One such member is Lisa Mullinax
of Wamego, Kansas. A member of the 2018 Racing Advisory Committee, Lisa has a long- standing love of Paint Horses and doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon.
Q: How long have you been involved in the racing industry in general and Paint barrel racing specifically?
Lisa: I have been involved with the Paint barrel racing industry for almost 20 years. Although initially I was involved in local playdays and fun shows on my two Paints for several years, I purchased my first competi- tive barrel horse, Bo Ringo, in 2009. Then in 2010, we got into the APHA breeding pro- gram and purchased our first stallion, Dallas Alley. Over the next year or so, a few of us breeders discussed the need for an incentive program for Paint barrel racers that would showcase the breed in the arena. After “pitch- ing” the idea to APHA with several meetings and phone conferences, the Paint Barrel Rac- ing Incentive Program was developed in 2012 and implemented in 2013.
Q: Tell us about some of your favorite Paint Horses?
Lisa: Several Paint barrel horses have been my favorites over the years. Of course, you can’t help but love the all-time greats like Olympia Joe, Judys Lineage and Raise A Jet, then the new favorites like CRM Livewire. I love the history and what they’ve done for the Paint rac- ing and the Paint barrel racing industries.
