Purses Up Over 100% in 2013 Compared to Initial 2012 Condition Book
On June 4, 2012, Canterbury Park and the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (owners of Mystic Lake Casino Hotel) agreed to a cooperative marketing agreement that, in part, will substantially increase purses for quarter horse racing over the next 10 years at Canterbury Park.
As a result, Canterbury Park’s quarter horses will be running for an estimated $1.1 million in 2013. This represents an increase of approximately 110% compared to the purses Canterbury Park’s quarter horses competed for as recently as 2011.
