Q: If you were not involved in the horse racing industry, what job would you like to have?
A: I have taught young people to ride through- out my life, and since I enjoy both the horses and the children, I think I could do that every day.
Q: What is your favorite thing about living where you live?
A: Besides being close to our children and grandchildren and many great friends, Eastern Washington is beautiful and full of interesting history. We’re surrounded by mighty rivers, mountains, and rich farm country, and we enjoy the changing seasons without extreme weather conditions.
Q: If you could vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go and what would you do there?
A: I’ve been to almost every state in the country during my travels, but I haven’t been to all of the New England states or Alaska or Hawaii. I would like to travel with my hus- band to these places unhurried and truly enjoy the diversity of this great country of ours.
Q: Do you have a favorite quote? If so, what is it?
A: I repeat to myself countless times - “People will forget things you said or things you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel.”
Q: If you could sit and visit with anyone, past or present, who would it be and why?
A: I am sure I share the same answer to this question with many others. I would like to sit down with my parents and ask them questions about themselves and their life that I never asked when I had the chance, and then they were gone, and I’ve found that the answers to my questions are gone with them.
Q: What drink would your friends describe you as. And why?
A: “A Tall Drink of Water.” Actually, this was my husband’s name for me.
Q: Who’s your favorite athlete of all time and why?
A: “The Fridge” (the equine version) Refrigerator. He came from humble
beginnings and accomplished the impossible partly because a handful of good people had faith in him.
Q: If you were making a movie about yourself, who would you cast to play you, and why?
A: Sally Field. I’m sure she could capture the human emotions that I have experienced in my lifetime because she definitely understands the “terms of endearment”! (She can also ride!)
Q: What’s one thing you don’t like about Quarter Horse racing?
A: Starting our young horses too soon.
Q: What’s one thing you like about Quarter Horse racing?
A: The great athletes themselves! Both equine and human!
