mare that sold with a 2017 filly by Jess Good Candy at her side, consigned by Lazy E Ranch LLC, Agent and purchased by Donald Cavenaugh.
The Jan. 18-20 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale in Oklahoma City had something for everyone, including the crowning of the 2017 American Quarter Horse Association Racing Champions on the evening of Jan. 17. Before the sale began on Jan. 18, the AQHA hosted a Challenge Championship Meeting update for owners, breeders, train- ers; and the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association hosted a reception and “Race Trackers Reunion” after day two of the sale.
The 39th annual event saw 89% of the horses sold and across-the-board increases, including a 5% increase in gross sales and a 3% increase in the average sale price over last year.
“We hope everyone has a successful 2018 and look forward to watching the sale graduates perform throughout the year,” said Heritage Place general manager Spence Kidney to StallioneSearch.
The high-seller at $300,000 was Tres Seis Folszookie (Tres Seis-Fols Zookie Cookie, Fols Gold), consigned by Lazy E Ranch, Agent and purchased by Don Cavanaugh. The 2013 unraced gray mare sold with a 2018 filly by 2-time Champion Jess Good Candy. Tres Seis Folszookie is a half-sister to multiple stakes winners, including 2-time 2017 Champion Hold Air Hostage.
The second-highest seller at $107,000 was Roman Soldier CD si 103 (Apollitical Jess-Famous Phoebe, Dash Ta Fame), consigned by Lazy E Ranch, Agent and purchased by Josefa. The 2013 sorrel colt has earned $153,181 so far, winning the Lovington Stakes-G2, finishing second in the Turf Paradise Championship Challenge, and as a finalist in the Rainbow Futurity-G1 and Championship at Sunland Park-G1. Roman Soldier CD is out of stakes winner/multiple stakes producer Famous Phoebe si 102 ($189,272).
