                 A Word Of APPRECIATION
We at SPEEDHORSE want to take this opportunity to applaud the efforts of ownership and management of Remington Park, who have elected to continue racing and have made a way to keep the
2020 Remington Park Quarter Horse race meet running during
the COVID-19 pandemic. It is through the concerted efforts of Remington Park, Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association,
the Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission, as well as state and local government officials that horses are still being loaded into the gates, races are being won, and purse money is being paid in order to support the livelihoods of industry workers at all levels. Stakes races, trials,
and overnights are all being run without spectators, as the facility is closed to the public with only licensed trainers, grooms, and essential racetrack personnel permitted on site.
I also want to shine the spotlight on our friends at the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association who by trojan efforts are working daily to project the allocations of added monies and purse levels. These calculations depend upon the very fluid gaming and simulcast revenues of this unprecedented season of events. Implementation of these adjustments is allowing purses to be distributed right now as well as helping to preserve added monies and funding for the future.
Also to be recognized are Dr. Allred and his management team
at Los Alamitos Race Course for their decision to proceed with their scheduled Friday through Sunday evening program. The track is closed to the public with only licensed trainers and grooms and essential racetrack staff allowed inside the facility. The 70th season of racing at Los Alamitos continues uninterrupted; thereby, helping to shield the economic welfare of the horsemen.
Both Remington Park and Los Alamitos have displayed their loyalty to our industry’s owners and breeders by choosing to allow racing to continue. By the same token, these racetracks are making provision for the ongoing training of our equine athletes, which is so critical to their welfare and safety.
While race fans are restricted from watching the horses race from the suites, the stands, or the apron, we may view the races via live broadcast thanks to the telecommunication industry which gives us access to follow the sport we so enjoy.
We at SPEEDHORSE will continue to do our part to provide you with uninterrupted service supporting you.
Sincerely,
John Bachelor SPEEDHORSE
