Llano Teller (Teller Cartel-Annie Eye Over) banked $70,000 for his game effort, growing his coffers to $1,757,347 for owners Wootan Racing (Terry Wootan) and Reed Land and Cattle (Kenneth Reed). Bred in Texas by Wootan Racing, Llano Teller has now won or placed in seven Grade 1 races. Kasey Willis saddled the 4-year-old gelding.
Ethics Aside (Mr Jess Perry-Daring Difference), who upset Llano Teller last time out in the Bank of America Prairie Meadows Championship Challenge on Sept. 15, finished third with a strong late rally under Oscar Delgado for owner/trainer Jorge Luis Gonzalez. Winner of the Bradford Stakes at Hoosier Park in track record time in August, Ethics Aside was vanned off the track follow- ing the Challenge Championship.

Ultimate Wave might have entered the $200,000 Adequan Derby Challenge Championship-G2 at Prairie Meadows on Oct.
27 as the least experienced runner in the field, but the promising Wave Carver colt exited the 400-yard fixture a graded stakes winner for Junior’s Quarter Horses Inc.
Piloted by Esgar Ramirez, Ultimate Wave raced in third position early. It didn’t take him long to assert his superiority. He grabbed the lead in mid-stretch and went on to a convinc- ing, 1 3/4-length victory for trainer Jorge Miranda, covering the distance in :19.563.
“He just woke up,” trainer Jorge Miranda said in the winner’s circle follow- ing the colt’s third consecu- tive win. “He has matured so much from 2 to 3.”
