he had in Turnpike Patty, he went looking for her dam. He found her in Arkansas, and he bought her in 1963 with her foal Mister Bar Three at her side. Nuyaka Pat would produce seven foals, six to go to the track, five ROM and four stakes placed horses. The other stakes placed runners include Red Hot Bar (full brother to Turnpike Patty), Flag Out by Leo Flag and Patty Mist by Mr. Harrison TB.
Nuyaka Pat was sired by Nuyaka’s Pal by Cabra’s Tuffy by Plaudit. This is the Quarter Horse Plaudit that was sired by King Plaudit, a son of the 1895 Kentucky Derby winner
- the Thoroughbred Plaudit. The dam of Cabra’s Tuffy was Miss Lani by Lani Chief TB. The dam of Nuyaka’s Pal was Cabra’s Star by Norfleet by *Brettenham TB.
The dam of Nuyaka Pat was Nuyaka Girl by Jigger Mc. Jigger Mc was sired by Doolittle by Albert, who was sired by Alamo by Uncle Jimmy Gray by Bonnie Joe. The dam of Doolittle was Maria H by Brown Jug by Texas Chief. The dam of Jigger Mc was a mare by Red Bug.
The dam of Nuyaka Girl was Blue Dawn 41, who was by a horse known as a colt by *Khedive II TB. *Khedive II was sired by
Rio Herode, who was the sire of the great Thoroughbred source of speed The Tetrarch. The colt by *Khedive II was out of a mare by Young Chickasha Bob. The dam of Blue Dawn
41 was a mare by Young Chickasha Bob. The interesting part of the blood of
Young Chickasha Bob is that he is sired by Chickasha Bob and out of Maud by Old Billy. This makes Young Chickasha Bob a full brother to Silver, the dam of Spark Plug - the sire of the dam of Patsy Lee and she was the dam of Bar Three. Young Chickasha Bob
was a full brother to Sorrel Alice, the dam
of Billy McCue. Billy McCue was the sire of Charley McCue, the sire of Patsy Lee. Plus, Billy McCue and Spark Plug were both sired by Jack McCue.
Turnpike Patty would go to the broodmare band to produce 13 foals, with seven of them earning an ROM including one stakes winner. Her ROM earners include Turnpike’s Queen by Joe Queen, Turnpikes Macho by Flaming Jet, Makin It Easy by Easy Jet, Turnpiker by Go Etta, Turnpikes Bug by Bugs Alive In 75, and Turnpikes Plan by Game Plan.
The stakes winner out of Turnpike Patty is the mare Turnpike’s Jet by Easy Jet. It is at this point that our story could have stopped with the sale of Turnpike’s Jet. The Pevehouse plan was
to breed a mare to World Champion Jet Deck. When he went to book a mare, Bud Warren, who stood Jet Deck, informed him that the Jet Deck book was full. So, he opted to breed to
The 5th dam of Jess Good Candy (here in the winner’s circle after winning his trial to the 2015 All American Futurity) is Three’s Gal, who was sired by Bar Three, the sire of Turnpike Patty – making Turnpike Patty & Three’s Gal paternal half-sisters, while Nolan & Carl are brothers.
Turnpike’s Jet, here in the winner’s circle after her 1974 Sugarloaf Futurity victory at Blue Ribbon Downs, was out of Turnpike Patty and was produced when Pevehouse bred his mare to Easy Jet. Turnpike’s Jet is the fourth dam of Painted Turnpike.
