Hosts Annual Meeting and 2017 Awards Banquet

On Saturday evening, Feb. 24, the beauti- ful Sky Room at the Cherokee Hard Rock Casino in Catoosa was overflowing with guests of Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association. With a record crowd for this year’s dinner and program, the room was beau- tifully set up and the service was excellent.
This year’s annual meeting and awards banquet drew reservations for just over 370 members and their guests. President William “Ed” Smith called the annual meeting to order and OQHRA Executive Director Debbie Schauf gave the annual report to membership.
For the first time in the 29 years OQHRA
has been hosting an annual awards recognition gala in Oklahoma, the event featured presenta- tions for the racing Champions of 2017 from
the Appaloosa Horse Club, the Appaloosa
Horse Club of Oklahoma, the American Paint Horse Association, the American Quarter Horse Association, the Oklahoma Breeding Development Program administered by the Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission, and the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association. Over 123 awards were presented as the top runners and their owners and breeders were recognized along with the top race winning and money earning trainers and riders. The emcee for the evening, Remington Park’s Chris Kotulak, kept things moving along and shared some great information on the performance and records of the honorees. Representatives from each of the associations helped with the presenta- tion of their awards, and Susan Bachelor from Speedhorse was the photographer for the event. The OQHRA would like to give a special thank you to all who attended and helped make the evening a big success.
