Remington Park began training races on Feb. 14, and the 13-race card on Valentine’s Day was a big event as the horses qualified
to compete at the Oklahoma City meet. Coronado Cartel (Corona Cartel-First Carolina) won the first race that day and held on for the fastest time of :13.454 for 250-yards. The Quarter Horse colt is owned by Reliance Ranches of Texas, trained by Eddie Willis,
and he was bred by the partnership of Weetona Stanley and William Smith in Oklahoma.
Races continued Feb. 15, with 12 more sets of training races. Painted Josy (PYC Paint Your Wagon, She’s Josy TB) posted the top training race time that day, covering the 250-yards in :13.51. The Quarter Horse gelding is owned and bred by George and Linda Carter in Oklahoma, and is trained by Tana Pace.
The Quarter Horse and Mixed live meet began March 8 and will run through June 2. This marks the 25th Anniversary Year of Horse Racing at Remington Park.
