 BROODMARE OF THE YEAR NOMINEES
Speedhorse is proud to announce the return of the Broodmare of the Year Award! We’ve compiled a list of the best brood- mares of 2011, and are counting on you to cast your votes and select a champion!
Years before the American Quarter Horse Association awarded a Champion Broodmare, Speedhorse Magazine honored one mare as BroodmareoftheYear.WhenAQHAadded theChampionBroodmareawardin1992, Speedhorse stepped aside and let AQHA
lead the way. As the AQHA transitions from honoring broodmares with the Champion BroodmareAwardtotheirDamsof Distinction program, we’ve decided to return to our roots and reintroduce the Broodmare of the Year.
What’s different about the Speedhorse Broodmare of the Year is that it is a true People’s Choice award with the winner voted on by you, our readers. The owner of the Broodmare of the
Year will receive a trophy engraved with their name and their winning mare’s name.
We hope you will be a part of this fun and informal contest by casting your vote for the Speedhorse Broodmare of the Year. On the following pages are 26 broodmare nominees. Broodmare nominees were selected using the following criteria:

first by number of Stakes Winners & second

first by number of Stakes Wins & second by Money Earned).
Only Quarter Horse foals are considered and listed for each mare. Underneath each mare’s name is a summary of her 2011 produc-
            Leading Money Earner with Earnings.
That is followed by the mare’s pedigree and a photo of her leading money earner in 2011. Her 2011 starters are listed individually, followed by any remaining foals that did not race in 2011.
A voting ballot follows the list of nominees. BallotsmustbereturnedbyMay18,andcanbe submittedbymailingtheformtoSpeedhorse

We hope you enjoy reading about and vot- ing for some of the industry’s best broodmares from 2011! The winner will be announced in our June 8 Broodmare Issue.
