César Pedrero Anaya Classic
SE LOGANS SIX
by Luis Prieto Zamudio, translated by Speedhorse
ACivil Engineer by profession and a pioneer in the founding of what is now the Mexican Association of Breeders and Horsemen of Quarter Horses, A.C. (AMCCCCM), the career of Don César Pedrero Anaya has been recognized for 11 consecutive years with the classic that bears his name.
It is a race conditioned for two-year-old Quarter Horses, born in Mexico, who are maidens at the time of nomination. Eight horses met this condition and made an appearance on Nov. 12 at the Hipódromo de Las Américas to determine the winner of the $286,300 pesos ($15,960 U.S. approx.) purse.
O Shaz King (#7) was a big favorite to win, closing with odds of 0.75, a prediction that is based on the best numbers of his past performance.
The rain was the “uncomfortable guest” that poured in a torrent and with a headwind that appeared when the horses were going to post. At the start, Migdalia Choice SJ (#5) jumped and
fell significantly behind, while a few yards ahead RG Gators Dinasty (#2) veered to the right and interfered with Rose Cat (#3). However, there were three horses that set the pace of the race and overcame the weather adversity better: SE Logans Six (#4), Bacoreuis (#1) and O Shaz King (#7). In that order, they were the first three to reach the finish line in a photo finish.
When it seemed that Bacoreuis would take first place in the classic, SE Logans Six came up on the right under the mount of Alejandro Gómez Díaz to snatch the lead and leave him in second place.
The race time was :17.07 for the 330-yard race, giving SE Logans Six his first win and stakes win, he now has a record of 1-1-1 in 4 starts. He also added $143,150 pesos ($7,980 U.S. approx.) to his bank account.
RG Gators Dynasty was disqualified from fourth to seventh place for the foul mentioned above.
Special guests at the award ceremony were the brothers Jorge, César and Álvaro Pedrero, representing their father Don César Pedrero Anaya. Together with Adriana Gómez Barnola, Manager of the AMCCCCM, they presented
the awards to the RG Ranch team, which was represented by trainer René Alan Rodríguez García and jockey Alejandro Gómez Díaz.
The winner is a gelding by Logans Mountain and out of Six Pax Dash by Tempting Dash. Bred by Joaquín Ramón Peláez Cortes, the gelding was consigned to the 2022 Select Yearling Auction where he sold for $100,000 pesos ($4,956 U.S. approx.) which was paid by RG Ranch, according to his trainer.
