Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Triple Crown Hi-Point Champion
Triple L Xpress was named the 2023 Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Triple Crown Hi-Point Champion on Nov. 14 following a fourth place finish under Jesus Salazar in the $55,927 Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Championship Futurity-G1, the third leg of the Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Triple Crown.
Triple L Xpress finished third under in
the first leg of the Speedhorse Triple Crown
– the $257,675 Speedhorse Graham Paint & Appaloosa Futurity-G1 at Remington Park on June 3. Triple L Xpress then finished third in the $88,734 Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Futurity-G1 – the second leg at Tulsa Fair Meadows on July 22.
Triple L Express APHA (CRM Livewire- Maggie Redmond QH, Wave Carver) was ridden by Jesus Salazar in the second and third leg, while Bryan Candanosa rode him in the first leg. He is trained by Dee Keener and owned by Planefun, LLC in all three
of his Speedhorse Triple Crown races. The 2-year-old colt was bred in the partnership of Nancy Yearsley and Garvan Kelly. Triple L Xpress’ winning owners received a trophy and belt buckle as well as an additional $5,000 Hi-Point Champion bonus from Speedhorse Magazine.
Pat Duggins and his wife DeAnn Duggins are the principals of Planefun, LLC, the owner of Triple L Xpress. They have been participants in the Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Triple Crown Race series for years.
In his 2023 season, Triple L Xpress won the PSBA American Paint Classic Futurity-G1 at Remington Park.
