  Jockey Jose Cedillo, 22, won his first Quarter Horse race from 12 mounts, piloting Cartel Love to a 3/4-length
winina 350-yard allowance at Los
Alamitos. Cartel Love (Favorite Cartel-All About Love, Feature Mr Jess) was winning for owners Jose R. Beltran and Francisco Diaz and trainer Jesus Nunez. It was the gelding’s third victory. Cedillo began working with Quarter Horses in Mexico, spent some time in Texas, and then moved to California, where he has ridden in all of
his starts.”

INDIANA HORSE RACING ASSOCIATION HALL OF FAME INDUCTION
The Indiana Horse Racing Association held their annual banquet to induct two new members into the Hall of
Fame - Dr. James Carmichael and Ernie Gaskin. Carmichael, who was inducted posthumously, was an advocate for Quarter Horse racing, graduated from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine and owned a veterinary practice in
the state. He was one of the first
members appointed to the Quarter
Horse Breed Development Committee and was later appointed to the Thoroughbred Breed Development Committee, also
serving as chairman. Gaskin was one of the first members of the Standardbred Breed Development Committee, lobbied for casino gaming at racetracks, and was a successful trainer in the state with two leading trainer titles at Hoosier Park. Portraits of the 18th and 19th Hall of Fame inductees will join the others on display in the Mezzanine at Indiana Grand Racing & Casino.
JIMMY DEAN BROOKS EARNS SAM THOMPSON MEMORIAL JOCKEY AWARD
Jimmy Dean Brooks was named the 2021 Sam Thompson Memorial Jockey Award winner. Jimmy is the son of the first Sam Thompson Memorial Jockey Award winner Roy Brooks. Among the top horses he has ridden are Refrigerator, Flys R Droppin, Feature Hero, Rock You, and Coronado Cartel. Created by Speedhorse in conjunction with The Jockeys’ Guild, the award is chosen by votes cast by fellow jockeys.
Bob Moore Farms in Oklahoma, having previously served as their breeding assistant, Yearling Manager and Assistant Farm Manager. Yonkers
graduated from the Horse Management program at Michigan State University in 2019. As the newly appointed Farm Manager, she follows in the direction of long-time manager Phillip Stewart who has called Bob Moore Farms home since 1982.
FORMER RP & FMT BOOKKEEPER CHARGED WITH EMBEZZLEMENT
Former Remington Park and Fair Meadows bookkeeper Patricia Bessonett has been charged with embezzlement and pattern of criminal offense for her alleged actions while working
at these Oklahoma racetracks. The total amount of money was not listed. If convicted, Oklahoma state statute provides punishment depending on the amount embezzled – ranging from a fine not to exceed $1,000 or imprisonment of not more than one year in the county jail, or by both, to a maximum prison sentence of 10 years and a fine of no more than $10,000, in addition to restitution.
ARIZONA DOWNS MEET LEADERS
Jockey Elias Gutierrez clinched his first jockey title at the conclusion of the Quarter Horse meet at Arizona Downs. Gutierrez ended the season with 11 wins from 36 starts and a 47% top-three finish, earning a total of $72,964. Jesus Torres-Casas claimed the leading owner title with 6 winners from 32 starts earning $41,423. There was a three-way tie for leading trainer Jesus Torres-Casas, Heraclio Botello Jr., and Jesus Olivas-Valenzuela, each with six wins.
