Preliminary results for the Ruidoso New Mexico Bred Yearling Sale saw 148 yearlings sell for $4,238,600, which is a 20% increase over last year when 137 horses sold for $3,537,100. The $28,639 sale average was up 11% from $25,818 last year. The median price dropped slightly to $15,500 compared to $16,000 last year.
The highest seller at $260,000 was
Hip #158 Ocean Bridge (Woodbridge-Ms Riptide, Ocean Runaway). The gelding is
a full brother to Zia Futurity-RG1 and Zia Derby-RG2 winner Mister Riptide, who also ran second in the All American Futurity-G1. His first three dams are all stakes winners and stakes producers. Ocean Bridge was consigned by MJ Farms, Agent and was purchased by Paragon Farms LLC.
Two horses shared the second-highest price of $185,000. Hip #209 Alamos (Eye Am King-Anakena, Woodbridge) was consigned by MJ Farms, Agent and purchased by Triple R Racing LLC. Hip #228 King Seis (Eye Am King-C Twister Seis, Tres Seis) was consigned by MJ Farms, Agent and purchased by Tungsten Racing Partnership.
Woodbridge was the leading sire with
10 horses selling for an average of $58,500, including the high-seller. MJ Farms was the sale’s leading consignor and/or agent with
33 horses selling for a total of $2,094,000, including top six sellers. Paragon Farms LLC was the top buyer, purchasing the high seller for $260,000.
