shown enough talent that the colt might give Contreras his first shot at a starter in the All American Futurity-G1.
“We’re going to point next for the Heritage Place Futurity,” said Contreras of the Grade 1 Remington event with trials set for May 4 and the final scheduled for May 26. “After this race, the jockey said right away that we should supplement him to the All American.”
Candanosa is particularly excited about Dash For Corona’s prospects.
“I’ve been riding match races in Mexico and ridden all my life,” the jockey said with Contreras translating. “I can feel when a horse is that fast. I knew this horse was going to be a champion. I told Javier that this is one of the fastest horses I have ever ridden.”

Stormy Smith piloted Midnight Sunlight (Ivory James-Quick Moon Sign) to her trial victory and second in the final, the filly’s only two starts. Vic Hanson trains Midnight Sunlight for owner Brenda Reiswig.
Jockey Adalberto Candanosa rode Dash For Coronas to a daylight win in the Grade 2 Oklahoma Futurity on March 17 at Remington Park.
Rick Sumner’s homebred Ernies Palace (Wave Carver-Give Me Candy) finished third after winning his trial, which was also his racing debut. Guillermo Valdivia trains the gelding, and Randy Wilson rode him in both races.
