AHP Launches Second Equine Industry Survey
The American Horse Publications (AHP) is conducting an Equine Industry Survey to gauge trends in the U.S. equine industry. The purpose of the survey is to obtain information regarding past, present and expected future participa- tion in the equine industry; to identify critical
issues facing the industry; and to analyze issues pertaining to horse health. Eligible participants in the anonymous survey must be 18 years of age or older, currently own or manage at least one horse, and live in the U.S.
In 2009, AHP conducted an online nation- wide survey, receiving 11,171 usable responses for the largest-ever equine industry survey of hands- on horse industry participants in the U.S. AHP hopes to exceed this with their current survey. You can take the 2012 survey before May 15 by visiting www.horsesurvey2012.com.
Calif. Lobbyist Blonien Dies
A California lobbyist for more than three decades, Rodney J. Blonien, 65, died on March 13. Blonien worked on state legislative issues involving horse racing, and was instrumental
in helping pass most major racing legislation in California. Blonien represented racing interests such as Hollywood Park and the Thoroughbred Owners of California, but he was most closely associated with Los Alamitos Race Course. “He was much more than a lobbyist. He was a good friend,” stated Los Alamitos owner Ed Allred. “Los Alamitos and Quarter Horse racing always relied on him...We’ll all miss him.” A native
of Wisconsin, Blonien is survived by his wife, Noreen, four children, 11 grandchildren, a brother and a sister, and many friends and family.

After onions & bell peppers are cooked add your chicken broth continue cooking all together, you can add water as needed to keep it from stick- ing, season to your taste, continue cooking until pork meat is good and tender. When meat is good and tender you are ready for your rice. Add 1/2 gallon of water bring it to a boil and then add 1- box of minute maid rice. Stir in rice real good with everything in pot when its
starts to boil again lower fire and let simmer, stir to keep it mixed. Rice should be cooked in about 5 minutes, and it’s ready to serve. Sit down and enjoy some good Cajun food with a COLD BEER!!!!!!

On page 58 of our March 16 issue, we incorrectly reported that former Trinity Meadows was shut down. The information was about an event that actually occurred in 2000. We apologize for the error.
