A key provision that extends three-year tax depreciation for all racehorses through 2020 passed the senate by a vote of 71-23. The provi- sion, which previously passed in the house, allows taxpayers to depreciate racehorses 24 months of age and younger when purchased and placed into service on a three-year sched- uled as opposed to a seven-year schedule.

StallioneSearch.com has announced their cre- ation of the Rising Star Awards in an effort to promote growth in the Quarter Horse racing industry. The award will recognize outstand- ing achievement in Quarter Horse race train- ing, as well as race riding by individuals under the age of 30 who are within their first five- years of taking out their occupational license. They will award a StallioneSearch Rising Star Jockey award, Rising Star Trainer award and Rising Star First Crop Stallion award, which will be awarded to the leading first crop sire at years end based on progeny earnings.

in 1,662 Quarter Horse races, 101 graded stakes races, 50 Grade 1 stakes races and has ridden five different millionaires and multiple Champions to their greatest career wins. He rode his last race at Sunland Park on Dec. 29 to close out his career.
