The 2017 Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association (OQHRA) Betting on the Cure for Rein In Cancer was held at Remington Park on June 3. There were two separate auctions held for the event: a silent auction and a live auction, with every dollar raised going to the charitable non-profit organization Rein In Cancer to provide support
to the Shirley Bowman Nutrition Clinic at the Stephenson Cancer Center in Oklahoma City. Rein In Cancer also runs a program to provide finan- cial support for any “horse industry” individual diagnosed with cancer if they request assistance. The Juno’s Request Stakes was the annual “Pink Race” in honor of all cancer victims and survivors, with the jockeys and the pony riders wearing pink. According to OQHRA Executive Directory Debbie Schauf, “Once again, the fundraising activities in honor of our Betting on the Cure night at the races were a success.”
