Featured on the 2023 Speedhorse Stallion Register is Big Daddy Cartel. The 2009 gray stallion has certainly proven himself deserving of this honor. In only seven crops to race, Big Daddy Cartel’s progeny earnings have reached over $16 million, with over $4.3 million earned in 2022 alone – with six leading 2022 money earners on the top 100 list.
Big Daddy Cartel was bred by Sunflower Supply Co. in Missouri. He is by the #2 All-Time Leading Sire of Money Earners Corona Cartel, who is the sire of Quarter Horses, Paints & Appaloosas with earnings of over $68 million. Big Daddy Cartel is out of the Mr Eye Opener mare Miss Racy Eyes, an All-Time Leading
Dam of ROM, who has produced 21 foals, 18 starters, 14 winners and 16 Register
of Merit earners. Her additional runners include stakes winner and New Track Record setter Racy La Jolla ($13,031) and stakes placed Stepenos ($64,108).
Big Daddy Cartel’s second dam, Miss Racy Vike, is a stakes winner as well as an All-Time Leading Dam of ROM. Miss Racy Vike is a full sister to stakes winners Racin Vike ($228,875), Racin Deal ($178,836), Etarag ($81,405), and Ronas Deal ($74,865). She is the dam of Champions Miss Racy Jess ($485,113) and One Sweet Racy ($387,423).
Big Daddy Cartel was raced briefly
at the age of two, where he won three of his five starts with earnings of $121,800. He finished fourth in the 2011 Rainbow Futurity-G1 ($700,000) and was a finalist in the 2011 All American Futurity-G1 ($2,400,000).
Big Daddy Cartel now stands with his current owner at MJ Farms in Veguita, New Mexico.
