AQRA Awards Banquet, Auction Announced
The Arizona Quarter Racing Association (AQRA) will hold their annual Awards Banquet on Dec. 15 at Turf Paradise in Phoenix, Arizona. The event will serve as the opening
of their online 2013 Stallion Service Auction. Donated stallions are still needed. The AQRA is still accepting donations of stallion breed- ings for the auction. The 2014 progeny of donated stallions will be eligible for the Desert Classic races. Contact AQRA at P.O. Box 1316, Thatcher, Arizona or call 602-625-0468. .
AQRA Hosts Youth Day At The Races
The Arizona Quarter Racing Association will host their annual “Youth Day at the Races” at Turf Paradise, in Phoenix, Arizona, on Nov. 17. Youth interested in experienc- ing horse racing “up close and personal” can contact Loretta Brasher at 602-625-0468 for an agenda and application.

Paintyourownwagon si 111 (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Jessica Ravin, Mr Jess Perry) will stand the 2013 season at AVS Equine Hospital in Tallahassee, Florida. Through 2012, the 2008 stallion has earned $103,097. He won the Kansas Jackpot Futurity-RG2, was second in
the Great Lakes Stakes, third in the Canterbury Park Derby, fifth in both the Sunland Park Winter Futurity-G2 and Prairie Meadows Derby Challenge-G3, and was a finalist in the Prairie Meadows Championship Challenge-G2. He also set a 300-yard track record as a 2-year-old at Will Rogers Downs. Paintyourownwagon was bred by You And Me Partners and is owned by Tom Maher.

4 15 ounce cans of Great Northern Beans
1 tablespoon butter
1 onion, diced
10 cloves of garlic, diced 2 cans diced green chilies
(if you like it spicy,
get the “hot” cans)
1 teaspoon cumin
1 tablespoon chili powder 1⁄2 teaspoon sweet paprika 1 can/jar/bottle spicy salsa Chicken stock, used as
needed to thin the soup Monterey Jack Cheese, garnish Green onions, garnish

Shred the chicken and reserve (discard skin).
In a medium sized sauté pan, heat butter over medium heat. Add onion and soften until onion is translucent (about 10 minutes). Add garlic, chilies and spices. Cook for 1 additional minute. Remove from heat.
Blend three cans of beans in a blender (do not drain cans). Add blended beans and the remaining can of beans to a large soup pot. Add onion mixture and chicken. Stir in salsa. Use chicken stock if needed to thin soup. Bring to a boil and then simmer for as much time as you can.
Serve with a healthy handful of monterey jack cheese and green onions. Warm up! Serves 6 to 8.
