The horse that rounds out Barry’s “top four” list is homebred Hemps Jumpn Lajolla, a 2012 gelding by Jumpn and out of Hemps La Jolla by Streakin La Jolla. “He was my first, biggest stakes winner,” Barry says. “He was a real competitive little horse.”
In his first year, Hemps Jumpn Lajolla won the $281,514 Mardi Gras Futurity-G2 wire-to- wire, ran second in the $645,645 Lee Berwick Futurity-G1 after a bumped start, and also won his trials to the LQHBA Laddie, Lee Berwick, and Louisiana QHBA futurities.
The graded stakes winner was ranked 41st by wins and 27th by earnings in his freshman year, with $269,772 to date. “Since then, it seems like I’ve had a nice stakes horse every year, either with one we’ve sold or one we still own,” Barry says.

“Genuine Reward had a yearling and a weanling when I bought her. The yearling, Jess Genuine, ended up being the leading 2-year-old
filly in 2005, and the weanling, Genuine Botticelli, qualified to the All American Futurity the next year. The accomplishments of those
two put me with a really nice, multiple stakes-producing mare.”
