A homebred for Jeff Adams, R Cowgirl broke her maiden at Remington Park in March and followed that initial victory with a score
in the $20,000 Victoria Ennis Stakes on April 29. She won her third straight race with a front- running triumph in her trial dash on May 20. The $97,917 winner’s share of the main event’s purse increased her bankroll to $128,206.
The win gave Keener and Adams their second consecutive win in the Speedhorse Graham Paint & Appaloosa Futurity, having won the event last year with Signs Of Livewire.
“I think I rode her halfway down the track myself,” said Keener after saddling six contenders. “I’m fortunate to have her.”
With Keener having so many runners to keep track of as they returned for unsaddling, Adams gave credit to his trainer, pointing in his direction, saying “It’s this one. That one right there who makes the horses what they are.”
Bred in Oklahoma, R Cowgirl is produced from the PYC Paint Your Wagon mare Paint This Kitty, who was also owned and bred by Adams and was a three-time winner during her racing career for Keener.
Runner-up Whiskey And Rain (CRM Livewire-Baileys N Sunsets) was a dominating 1 3/4-length winner of her trial following
a narrow win in the $203,500 Oklahoma Paint & Appaloosa Futurity-G1 on March
25. Owned and bred by Dunn Ranch and trained by Monty Arrossa, Whiskey And
Rain was ridden by Bryan Calderon who has partnered the filly in her last two outings. She
is produced from the winning Real Easy Cash mare Baileys N Sunsets.
Triple L Xpress (CRM Livewire-Maggie Redmond) and jockey Bryan Candanosa finished a close third for owner Planefun LLC. Keener trains the bay colt who was bred in Oklahoma
by Nancy Yearsley and Garvan Kelly. Winner of the Paint Stallion Breeders’ Association American Paint Classic Futurity-G1 on April 29, Triple L Express, also trained by Keener, is a three-time winner from six lifetime starts. His dam, Maggie
Redmond, by Wave Carver, won once in nine career starts for Yearsley and Kelly.
Wired Red Head (CRM Livewire-Dancing Red Head), Tess The Wire (CRM Livewire- Princess Friona), Railway Cafe (Freighttrain B-Mai Dashing Hero), WF Candy Tellin Tales (Wagon Tales-SW Eye Candy), Mighty Mocha (Painted Turnpike-Mighty Chicka), V Golden Game (CRM Livewire-Game Hi), and El Flying Cowgirl (Flying Cowboy 123-Imakickenchicken) completed the order of finish.
R Cowgirl’s winning connections include owner Jeff Adams, trainer Dee Keener and jockey James Flores.
