JR COWBOY CADILLAC
by Michael Cusortelli
JR Cowboy Cadillac, the fastest qualifier from six trials and one of four finalists from the barn of trainer Kylie Valenzuela, led at every call en route to a 1/2-length victory in the 330- yard Hadley Giles Futurity for 2-year-olds at Weber Downs on May 27.
Bred and owned by JR Stables, JR Cowboy Cadillac earned a 99 speed index while stopping the timer in :16.972. Cristian Aguirre- Erives rode the homebred
black son of the Apollitical Jess stallion Flying Cowboy 123 for the team.
JR Cowboy Cadillac banked the $29,787 winner’s share of a $70,922 purse. The gelding was bred in Nevada, and he is out of JR Dash Of Shania, a winning 12-year-old daughter of 2008 Champion 2-Year-
Old Colt Foose. His second dam, Prissy B Panther, is a
Mountain Top Derby
winning daughter of 2003 Champion Aged Stallion Panther Mountain who won the AQHA Challenge Championship-G1 at Los Alamitos and went wire-to-wire in the Central Championship Challenge at Prairie Meadows in 2003.

14. The gelding has earned $31,287 from two outs and two wins.
Docs Blazin Gal (Docs Best Card-Blazin Mean), the ninth-fastest qualifier, ran second and earned $12,056 to brings his career bankroll to $13,556 for her owner, Pedro Mena. Jesus Valenzuela rode the homebred black filly for trainer Kylie Valenzuela.

CRUZIN FOR CHICKZ
by Michael Cusortelli
Adisqualification following a stewards inquiry helped seventh-fastest qualifier Cruzin For Chickz earn his first career stakes win in the June 17 Mountain Top Derby for New Mexico-bred 3 year olds at Ruidoso Downs.
White Lightenin, the fastest qualifier and 7-5 favorite in the eight-horse field, actually crossed the wire first. However, that gelding
was disqualified and officially placed sixth for breaking inward and bearing out late in the 350- yard dash.
Trained by Wes Giles for owners Curtis Crenwelge, Jim Laird, and Jose R. Espinosa, Cruzin For Chickz stopped the timer in :17.957 while racing against a reported 15-mph head wind, and his official margin of victory was a neck from Codex, who was moved from third to second.
“We were dealing with a strong wind, and it was very difficult (out there),” said
jockey Bryan Candanosa, who was riding Cruzin For Chickz for the first time in a race. “This gelding is a very consistent runner.”
Cruzin For Chickz finished a head behind White Lightenin and earned an 80 speed index and the $90,511 winner’s share of the stakes- record $205,265 purse. The bay gelding was bred by his owners, and he made his Ruidoso Downs debut with a 1/2-length victory in one of seven Mountain Top Derby trials on June 3.
Cruzin For Chickz is out
of Zoobie Cartel, a winning homebred 10-year-old daughter of Corona Cartel. His second dam, the Dashin Bye mare Zoobilee, won three Graded stakes in Louisiana from 2009-11, including the 2010 Louisiana Champions Day Derby-RG2 at Fair Grounds Racecourse in New Orleans.
Raced exclusively in New Mexico, Cruzin For Chickz has won three of six outs and
has earned $172,036. His record includes a second-place finish in last year’s New Mexico State Fair Futurity-RG3 at Albuquerque Downs.
Codex (Big Daddy Cartel-Astica) banked $38,790 for his owner Uno Mas. Francisco Calderon rode the gray gelding for trainer Wes Giles. RC Corona King (Eye Am King-Classyoddsofdeefirst) was placed third and pocketed $21,550 for his owner Jose H. Rodriguez. Damian Corral rode the sorrel gelding for trainer Gerardo Quinonez.
KJ Daddys Money (Big Daddy Cartel-KJ Kiss Me Goodbye), Wood Dee Queen (Eye Am King-Miss Woody Dee), White Lightenin (Eye Am King-Alice K White), Nolans Moon (First Moonflash-Sissys Cartel), and Moon Jumpn Jessica (Jumpn Chic-Le Mishka Jess) completed the order of finish.
