The photo on page 233 shows Go Dick Go (Little Dick Priest-Miss Array 54, Foray Array TB) with breeder Raymon Tucker. Bred in Florida and foaled in 1964, Go Dick Go began his career on the track two and raced until the age of five. During those three years, he amassed a race record of 28- 15(6)-5(2)-2(1) with earnings of $277,669 and three New Track Records.
Tucker sold Go Dick Go as a yearling to Joe Leitner in 1965. Trained by Clarence Jay, Go Dick Go was victorious in races such as the South Texas Derby, Rebel Futurity and of course, the All American Futurity.
Leitner supplemented Go Dick Go into the 1966 All American Futurity for $13,000, and the colt qualified along with leading runners Top Ladybug and Chickamona. Under the guidance of jockey Buddy Nesmith, Go Dick Go won the big event, which was the richest race in the world with a purse of $431,600, in a photo finish. He was named the 1966 Champion 2-Year-Old Colt and was also the year’s High Money Earning Horse.
In 1968, Go Dick Go returned to the ownership of Raymon Tucker and began his career at stud. He sired 306 winners from 522 starters and the earners of $2,421,468. His most notable performer is Dont Hold Back, winner of the 1984 Florida Bred Futurity and the 1987 Woody Lawlis Classic Stakes.
This year’s $3,000,000 All American Futurity-G1 will be run at Ruidoso Downs on Sept. 2.
