Signed To Boogie is sired by The Signature, winner of 11 of his 21 starts with four of his wins in stakes events. His biggest payday came when he won the 1982 Old South Futurity. The Signature was also stakes placed in five races, including a second in the 1983 Los Alamitos Derby. He earned $333,473.
The Signature is the sire of over $11 million. His leading money earner is 1994 Champion 3-Year-Old Colt Heza Fast Man. The Signature is the broodmare sire of over $17 million, led by Wild Six, winner of the 2007 Rainbow Futurity-G1. The Signature is by Noholme II TB and is out of Mable Chick Too by Moolah Bux TB.
The dam of Signed To Boogie is Boogie Woogie Babe, who earned her ROM with
a 96 speed index. She had seven starts, two wins, a second and a third, earning $4,983. Boogie Woogie Babe is the dam of only three foals with two starters/ROM, including winner Boogie To This.
Boogie Woogie Babe is by Nublado Jr by Nublado TB, who is the winner of $84,476 with five wins in 23 starts. The dam of Boogie Woogie Babe is Toni Bee, who had six starts with two wins and a second. She earned $1,583.
Coming Full Cir Cle
The pedigree of Toni Bee is interesting, as it brings us full circle when talking about the tail female line of our two Broodmares of The Year and the pedigree bond these two mares have in common. Toni Bee is
by Nevada Battler TB, who is sired by The Battler, who is a son of War Admiral, the 1937 Thoroughbred Triple Crown winner. The dam of The Battler is Baby League by Bubbling Over. The dam of Baby League is La Troienne by Teddy.
The dam of Toni Bee is Perfect Right
by David Cox, a son of Depth Charge TB. The dam of David Cox is Miss Myrna Bar
by Three Bars TB. The dam of Perfect Right
is Apache Royal by Royal Bar by Three Bars TB. The dam of Apache Royal is Apachette
by Super Charge by Depth Charge TB. This gives Perfect Right a breeding pattern of 2x4 to Depth Charge. This also tells us that This Boogie Fires traces in the tail female line to a mare showing inbreeding in her pedigree to Depth Charge. Inbreeding to Depth Charge in the tail female line is a common bond between This Boogie Fires and Jess A Classy Lassy.
This leads us to ask . . . what it the significance of the inbreeding in the tail female line? Well, the true genetic answer may be unknown at this time, but it does give the pedigree a good foundation that allows the breeder to outcross and on which to build the pedigree.
t he daughters sired by a stallion will all inherit their sire’s X chromosome, which he inherited from his dam. t his alone gives the sire, his daughters and his dam a special genetic connection.
Here is another interesting situation in
the This Boogie Fires’ tail female line. We
see inbreeding to Depth Charge as well as inbreeding to Three Bars as a cross on Depth Charge. It is the mating of a Depth Charge line stallion on a Three Bars mare crossed on a Three Bars line stallion crossed on a Depth Charge line mare. This is a linebreeding pattern to a nick that takes advantage of sex linked genes by crossing a Depth Charge/ Three Bar cross on a Three Bars/Depth Charge cross. In other words, a male line cross on female line cross from the nick of Depth Charge and Three Bars. This pattern broadens the ability to pass the sex-linked genes from a male influence and a female influence of both sires into the foal being produced.
Breeding P atterns
A look at the pedigrees of J Fire Up and Jessies First Down show some similarity
in the pedigree patterns that boosted their respective dams to the title of Co-Broodmares of the Year.
J Fire uP
When we look at the pedigree of J Fire Up, by Kiddy Up and out of This Boogie Fires by Walk Thru Fire, we see a very familiar breeding pattern. Kiddy Up is a son of Corona Cartel, who is by Holland Ease by First Down Dash, and Corona Cartel is out of Corona Chick by Chicks Beduino by Beduino TB - and that gives us a dose of the First Down Dash/Beduino TB nick.
Then we look at the pedigree of Walk Thru Fire and we see he is by First Down Dash and out of Sweet Beduino by Beduino. Another dose of the First Down Dash/ Beduino TB nick. Thus, J Fire Up is the result of linebreeding to the First Down Dash/Beduino TB nick.
An added note: We see that Kiddy Up is out of Miss Racy Vike by Racin Free by Pass ‘Em Up TB by Noholme II. Then, we remember that This Boogie Fires is out of Boogie Special, who is out of Signed To Boogie by The Signature by Noholme II, and this shows us that we have linebreeding to the First Down Dash/Beduino TB/Noholme II TB cross.
Jessies First down
Jessies First Down is by FDD Dynasty by First Down Dash. The dam of FDD Dynasty is Dinastia Toll BRZ by Tolltac
by Beduino. This gives Jessies First Down
a dose of the First Down Dash/Beduino TB nick. We also see that FDD Dynasty
is linebred to Dash For Cash, the sire of First Down Dash. Dinastia Toll BRZ is out of Phillips Filly by On A High by Dash For Cash, giving FDD Dynasty a breeding pattern of 2x4 to Dash For Cash.
When we look at the pedigree of Jess A Classy Lassy, we see she is out of Mighty Classy Lassy by A Classic Dash by First Down Dash. Thus, we have linebreeding to First Down Dash in the pedigree of Jessies First Down.
When we look at the pedigree of A Classic Dash, we see an interesting pedigree tie to the First Down Dash/Beduino TB nick. A Classic Dash is out of Classic Canyon by Dusty Canyon TB by Fleet Nasrullah by Nasrullah. Then we see that Beduino is a
son of Romany Royal by Grey Sovereign by Nasrullah. This gives the pedigree of Jessies First Down a breeding pattern to First Down Dash as a cross on a Nasrullah line mare, which duplicates the First Down Dash/ Beduino TB cross, which is also a First Down Dash/Nasrullah TB line cross.
One more pedigree note: Classic Canyon is out of Like Grandma by David Cox by Depth Charge TB. We also see David Cox in This Boogie Fire’s pedigree as the broodmare sire of Toni Bee, the fourth dam in her tail female line. Then, we see that Beduino is
out of Jo-Ann-Cat, a daughter of Quick Eye by Depth Charge. Depth Charge has an interesting influence on the tail female line, whether it appears through inbreeding to him or just a single cross to him.
We have seen several things that show common bonds between Jess A Classy Lassy and This Boogie Fires as mares bred, raced and owned by their breeders. This common bond culminates in the tail female line, with both mares tracing to a mare that is double bred to Depth Charge.
