Wyoming Pari-mutuel Commission aPProves Hair testing
During the March 23 Wyoming Pari-Mutuel Commission meeting, the Wyoming Pari-Mutuel Commissioners adopted the rule change to allow hair testing.
The new language clarifies and gives direction regarding what equine testing samples are permissible and corrects language with regard to banned controlled substances.
In a press release, the commission stated: “In furthering the Commission’s mission to provide the highest level of integrity in all pari-mutuel events, the Commission sees the need to embrace new technological advances in testing capabilities.
“By adding hair testing, the commission will prevent and deter fraudulent activities,” said Executive Director Charles Moore.
Energy Downs in Gillette will run June 8–24, Sweetwater Downs in Rock Springs will run Aug. 24– Sept. 9 and Wyoming Downs in Evanston will run June 30–Aug. 19.
With the resurrection of racing again in Wyoming, the commission stated through the press release that it strives to continue the protection of the wagering public and the health, safety and welfare
of both human and equine participants with our regulatory processes, presence and integrity.
