John Brunetti Passes Away
John Brunetti, 87, passed away on March
2. Brunetti was the owner of Hialeah Park near Miami, Florida. Born in the Bronx, Brunetti attended the New York Military Academy and was later elected President of the Board of Trustees where he changed the rules to allow admission of the first female cadets. He received his business degree at the University of Miami, where he discovered horse racing, and he purchased Hialeah Park and Race Course in 1977. He was Chairman of the Board of The Brunetti Organization, a
real estate and property development company. Brunetti is survived by his wife, Tracee, two sons, and other family members and friends.
Richard “Dick” Herrman Passes Away
Breeder/owner Richard “Dick” Herrman passed away on Mar. 9 at the age of 83. Herrman raced horses in California, Texas, Arizona, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Colorado, winning numerous Superior Racehorses titles from the American Quarter Horse Association. He was a member of the AQHA and Pacific Coast Quarter Horse Racing Association. He was also a board member of the Rocky Mountain Quarter Horse Association, received many Champion awards from the association, and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2017. Herrman is survived by his wife of 63 years, Genny, his children and many other family members.
