The photo on page 209 shows Dale Robertson at the 1984 Oklahoma Thoroughbred Association Banquet. Robertson is most well-known
for starring in the long running series Tales of Wells Fargo, as well as other television series and movies. After serving in World War II and receiving both the Bronze and Silver Star medals, he purchased 436.8 acres in Oklahoma and began Haymaker Farm near Yukon, OK. The Haymaker legacy began in the late 1940’s and along the way, they bred Champions, stakes winners and record setters. For 17 years, the Haymaker Farm bred their stock for the Haymaker Sale, which was sold after the death of Dale’s brother Chet and renamed Heritage Place Sale Company. Just some of the horses with connections to the Robertson’ and Haymaker Farm include: 1968 Champion 3-Year-Old Gelding Cinder Leo, bred by Haymaker Farms; 1961 Champion 3-Year-Old Colt and 1962 Champion Aged Stallion Rebel Cause, bred and owned by Haymaker Farms; 1963 Champion Aged Stallion The Haymaker, bred and owned by Haymaker Farms; and 1983 Champion Aged Stallion Johnny Vittoro, owned by Johnny Vittoro LTD of which Dale was a partner. Dale died at age 89 in 2013 after being diagnosed with cancer while being treated for pneumonia. He was inducted into the AQHA Hall of Fame in 2015, and both Dale and Chet were inducted into the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Hall of Fame in 2015.
