The 2018 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale was held Aug. 31- Sept. 2 during All American Weekend. The sale reached over $15 million
in gross sales for the first time in four years, reaching $15,032,000. The sale average of horses sold, without repurchases, was up to $46,580 for 323 horses sold compared to $42,779 on 308 from last year. The sale saw 30 yearlings sell for six figures, including two that went over the $300,000 mark.
The high-seller sold on Sept. 2 for $340,000 and was Hip# 326 Good Candy P (Good Reason SA-Send Me This Wagon, PYC Paint Your Wagon). Consigned by Lazy E Ranch, LLC Agent for Michael Pohl and purchased by Don Cavenaugh, the sorrel colt is by Cham- pion/Champion sire Good Reason SA and out of multiple stakes winner/New Track Record setter Send Me This Wagon, a half-sister to Champion and 2015 All American Futurity-G1 winner Jess Good Candy.
Cavenaugh also purchased the second high-seller at $300,000, Hip# 130 A Sweet Jess (Apollitical Jess-One Sweet Dash, First Down Dash). Consigned by Roger Daly, Agent for Allred Brothers Ranch LLC, the sorrel colt is
a half-brother to World Champion/Champion sire One Dashing Eagle and to Leading sire/ Grade 1 winner One Sweet Jess.
