PARTY POLITICS

Owning a horse with family and friends may be the ultimate way to party at the racetrack. That’s exactly what trainer Juan Aleman got to do
at Los Alamitos on June 19 when Party Politics won the $960,000 Ed Burke Million Futurity-G1 because Aleman owns the gelding with several people in JGA Racing Stables.
“JGA is a family group,” said Aleman. “It’s my dad, my mom—it’s our family. We have a friend who is involved, so it is a little syndicate. What we all do is we all join up and pitch in.”
That paid off handsomely in the Ed Burke Million Futurity, which not only awarded $403,200 in first-place money, but anyone in the group who wagered a few dollars also did well. Party Politics, the 9th-fastest qualifier, went off as the 10-1 sixth choice and paid $23.20 to win.
