great mares to him, including many stakes- winning and Champion-producing mares. The feedback we have received from breeders has been unbelievable. It is just a matter of time for the world to see what this horse is all about.
“We were excited to bring him to the Quarter Horse industry,” O’Brien added. “Horsemen much smarter than me—whether it be Bob Baffert or Paul Jones—thought he looked, ran, and was bred to be that outcross we’ve been looking for. And after seeing his foals, they are even more excited now than they were then. His foals are spectacular. I’m continuously told by breeders how correct, big- boned, well-muscled and strong they are.”
TF Im That Guy
(First Down Dash-TF Ms Special Perry) Stands at Tate Farms
2020 fee: $2,000
TF Im That Guy was that guy on the racetrack, and Stephen Tate at Tate Farms is confident in what he’s seeing in the young stallion’s progeny.
A winner in five of 24 starts, TF Im That Guy banked $535,814 in a stellar racing career. At two, he won his trial for the All American Futurity before finishing third in the Grade 1 finals behind Jess Good Candy and One Fabulous Eagle. He also finished third in the West Texas Futurity-G2 at Sunland Park. At season’s end, the sorrel colt had won two of seven starts, placed in three others, including the two stakes, and earned $283,082.
At three, he won the 440-yard Hobbs America Derby-G3 at Zia Park after winning his trial
dash for the main event. He was fourth in The

Championship at Sunland Park-G1 and was a finalist in the Zia Park Championship-G1 and Rainbow Derby. His exploits in his sophomore campaign earned him honors as New Mexico’s Hi- Point 3-Year-Old Colt.
At four, he was New Mexico Hi-Point Aged Stallion after winning an allowance race and finishing second in the Zia Park Championship-G1 and Lovington Stakes-G2 at Zia Park. He finished third in the James Isaac Hobbs Stakes-G2 and was a finalist in two additional Grade 1 events and a Grade 2 race.
He retired to stud at Tate Farms with a record of 24-5(1)-5(2)-5(3) and earnings of $535,814. By World Champion/AQHA Hall of Fame Horse and the sire of multiple World Champions First Down Dash, TF Im That Guy is out of
the Special Leader mare TF Ms Special Perry, a Grade 2 winner and an All-Time Leading Dam of ROM. She is the dam of nine winners from
13 starters, including Grade 2 winner Not Perry Pretty and stakes winner TF Jess Leader, both half siblings to TF Im That Guy.
“He’s probably got one of the best group of yearlings on a freshman sire that I have seen,” Tate said. “His babies are very easy to deal with. They are all business, but easy to deal with. He puts a good mind on them. His babies are super nice.
“He bred a lot of really nice mares in that first book,” Tate added. “He got a lot of stakes winners and stakes producers. We’re looking for big things from him. He is such a good-minded horse and easy to deal with and his babies are the same way. They are big and have some size. They are nice and easy to look at, too.”
