AQHA Past President Johnny Trotter’s Bodacious Eagle has been honored as an AQHA Supreme Race Horse.
The 5-year-old gelding joins 38 other horses since 2002 in earning the title. The Supreme Race Horse award recognizes a racing American Quarter Horse that during its career earns $500,000 or more, wins two or more open Grade 1 stakes races and at least 10 races.
Bodacious Eagle is by One Famous Eagle and is out of the Corona Cartel mare Bodacious Dream, a daughter of the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame mare Dashing Phoebe. Bred by La Feliz Montana Ranch LLC of North Las Vegas, Nevada, Trotter acquired the horse as an embryo.
The sorrel gelding finished the necessary criteria to earn the award on April 1, when
he notched his 10th career victory in the Leo Stakes-G1. He has won 11 of 23 starts to date, with four seconds and one third-place finish. He has earned $802,561 in his career. His other Grade 1 victory was in the 2015 Texas Classic Derby. He has won five stakes races; his other stakes wins include the Dash For Cash Derby-G3, Eastex Stakes-G2 and Higheasterjet Handicap-G3.
Bodacious Eagle is the 110th horse in total to earn the Supreme Race Horse award, as the other awards were given retroactively.
administrator. “By providing preventive health screenings, we hope to help individuals better manage their health and avoid negative health outcomes in the future.”
Darrell Winter, the chaplain at Ruidoso Downs Race Track, echoed those sentiments. “Meeting both the physical and spiritual needs of the people around the race track is the focus of the Ruidoso Downs Chapel ministry,” he said. “The health screening helps improve the lives
of our industry workers. They are the backbone of every horseracing track. We are grateful to
the staff at Lincoln County Medical Center for providing preventive health screenings to our employees.”
On Aug. 5, Ruidoso Downs hosted Pink Day at the Races, which helped raise funds for women to get mammograms at the Lincoln County Medical Center.
“It was an awesome Pink Day on the mountain,” said organizer Jamie Zamora. “There are smiles all around and I really want to thank everyone who made this yet another stellar Pink Day.”
