Favored Myst Fit came through with a 1/2-length win over a sealed, sloppy track to secure a spot in the All American Derby finals. Ridden by Ricky Ramirez for Trey Wood, Myst Fit led from nearly wire to wire in the 13th trial, stopping the timer in :21.561 to grab the sixth qualifying spot. Newman Cattle Company & Bobby Simmons own Myst Fit, who raced throughout the 440 yards next to fellow qualifier Machismo Moon. The win was the fifth lifetime for Myst Fit, whose three-race winning streak earlier this year included the Oklahoma Derby. Bred by Dr. Steve Burns in California, Myst Fit is by Separatist and out of Mystifying, a winning daughter of Mr Jess Perry. His second dam is a sister to Meganette si 106 ($657,620). This is the maternal family of Champions Separate Fire and Stylish Jess BR. Myst Fit was a $19,000 sale yearling at the 2015 Heritage Place Yearling Sale.
7 MACHISMO MOON SI 89, $101,386 7
Machismo Moon was piloted by Mauro Salcedo to a 2nd-place finish in the 13th and final trial to earn his spot in the All American Derby with a time of :21.624. The gray gelding is no stranger to stakes company, having run 2nd in the Zia F.-RG1 and 6th in the La Fiesta F. as a 2 year old. This year, trainer Seth Ferguson, son of Norma Alvarez, has sent Machismo Moon postward 3 times – twice in allowance company and once in the Zia H.-RG2, and each time against older horses. He won 1 of those allow- ance tries before running 4th in the Zia in his most recent start prior to the All American Derby trials. Dosi & Norma Alvarez bred Machismo Moon, who is owned by Ramon Alvarez, Joe Alvarez & Ysabel Medrano. The Heza Motor Scooter gelding is out of Machi Moon, by Dash Ta Fame. Machismo Moon is a 1/2-brother to Chickaloni si 95 ($271,260), winner of the Grade 2 New Mexico Classic Futurity.
8 BELLISSIMA CHOCOLATA SI 90, $25,564 8
Bellissima Chocolata handled a 10 mile per hour cross wind to win the 3rd race as an 11-1 outsider, by 1/2-length. With Jose Montoya up, Bellissima Chocolata covered the 440 yards in :21.626, tying with Elicity for the 8th and 9th qualifying spots. Pedro Lopez saddled the filly for Joel Valeriano, La Feliz Mon- tana Ranch & Jose J. Espinoza. Bellissima Chocolata ran in the Oklahoma D.-G2 earlier this year, finish- ing 6th behind fellow qualifier Myst Fit. She has lined up for all of the Triple Crown trials this summer, but this will be her first finals attempt at Ruidoso. Juliana Hawn Holt bred Bellissima Chocolata in Texas. The filly is by Valiant Hero & out of 2007 All American F. winner Heartswideopen si 104 ($1,885,283), a multiple AQHA Champion at 2 and 3 who is a 1/2-sister to Champion Special Phoebe si 104 ($139,963). Bellissima Chocolata’s 2nd dam is multiple Champion Dashing Phoebe si 104 ($609,553).

Elicity ran in the productive 11th trial, which saw the top three finishers earn starting berths in the All American Derby. Piloted by Esgar Ramirez, Elicity broke in mid-pack from post position six. Battling her way past horses, Elicity finished solidly in second to fastest qualifier Hold Air Hostage. Her time of :21.626 tied with that of Bellissima Chocolata. Juan Aleman saddled Elicity for owner Audie & Kaye Williams’ Papas Place LLC. Elicity previously won the $100,000 Corona Cartel Stakes on July 22 at Ruidoso Downs. Last year, she was second in the Bobby Angel Handicap at Los Alamitos Race Course and eighth in the All American Juvenile Invitational. Elicity was bred in Utah by Robert Williams. She is sired by Apollitical Jess and out of the Walk Thru Fire daughter Flame N Flash, a multiple graded stakes winner. Her second dam is Oh La Proud, an AQHA Dam of Distinction and $2 Million producer.
10 MAGESTIC EAGLE SI 89, $79,040 10
Imperial Eagle & Magestic Eagle each were timed in :21.646 and shared the final qualifying spot. Magestic Eagle won the shake and is in the All American Derby, giving Juan Gonzalez & Tanner Thedford their 2nd qualifier. Magestic Eagle earned his All American berth by running 3rd in the 11th trial, a neck behind Elicity and 4-lengths behind Hold Air Hostage. Magestic Eagle, who is owned by Victor Diaz, has only run in stakes company once – in the Rainbow D.-G1 in his most recent start prior to the All American Derby trials. The One Famous Eagle son finished 5th in the race won by Hold Air Hostage. Bred by Ware Farms, Magestic Eagle is by One Famous Eagle & out of Catalina Fantasy si 109 ($34,170), a full sister to Grade 1 stakes winner First Down Illusion si 98 ($500,540), Really A Fantasy si 96 ($75,045), and others. His 3rd dam is the blue-hen mare Fishers Favorite.
