     The 15th annual Los Alamitos Equine Sale noted double digit increases during the two day sale that was held Oct. 5-6. The sale was strong with 245 horses sold for a total of $6,318,900, up 11% from last year’s $5,685,200 from 256 horses sold. Overall, yearlings averaged 13% higher for 223 yearlings than the 2018 average of $23,623 from 228 yearlings. “It was a great sale,” said Pacific Coast Quarter Horse Racing Association president Vince Genco. “We really like to thank all of our won- derful breeders, consignors, buyers and agents for making this such a great sale. Of course, I’d like to thank Dr. Ed Allred and his entire staff for the great hospitality.”
The $247,000 high seller was Hip #327, Better Version (Favorite Cartel-Make Over, Separatist), a 2018 brown colt consigned by Edward C. Allred and purchased by MRB Racing & La Feliz Montana Ranch. Better Version is a half-brother to 2-time graded stakes winner New Look, who was also bred by Ed Allred. The brown colt is by Champion sire Favorite Cartel, and his second dam is 1987 All American Futurity winner Elans Special.
The second-highest seller at $160,000 was Hip #156 Tyson Fury (Walk Thru Fire-Babe On the Fly, Strawfly Special), a 2018 sorrel colt consigned by Burns Ranch Inc., Agent and purchased by Bujanda Racing Stables LLC. Tyson Fury is full broth- er to four stakes winners, including New Track Record setter Fly Thru The Fire, and a half-brother to four additional stakes winners. The colt is by World Champion sire Walk Thru Fire, and is out of multiple stakes placed winner Babe On The Fly.
