  Consigned by AECOM/URS Federal Services, Chris Benedict, Agent, Moonin The Eagle set a World Record for an American Quarter Horse sold at auction when Bobby Cox purchased the Champion for $2.1 million.
Preliminary results for the 2018 Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale, held Nov. 2-3 in Oklahoma City, showed increases in gross revenue and average compared to last year’s sale. Gross revenue reached $7,029,000 compared to last year’s $5,303,250, the $15,621 sale average topped last year’s $11,166 average, while the $6,300 median remained steady compared to $6,500 in 2017.
“The Fall Mixed Sale finished strong as compared to last year,” stated Heritage Place General Manager Spence Kidney, according to stallione- search.com. “It was an exciting weekend for the industry and certainly for everyone who attended the sale. We wish everyone the best of luck and look forward to cataloging the Winter Sale to kick off the year for 2019.”
The high seller at a record breaking price of $2.1 million was Hip #200 Moonin The Eagle (One Famous Eagle-Your First Moon, First Down Dash), a 2012 gray stallion consigned by AECOM/URS Federal Services, Chris Benedict, Agent, and purchased by Bobby D. Cox.
The 2016 Champion Aged Stallion and 3-time New Track Record setter’s first foals arrived in 2018. An additional 30 frozen semen were retained. Moonin The Eagle will stand at Hart Farms in Louisiana.
The second highest seller at $200,000 was Hip #205, 2006 World Champion, Champion 3 Year Old and Champion 3-Year-Old Colt Wave Carver (Corona Cartel-Race Valentine, Strawfly Special), a 2003 gray stallion consigned by Wave Carver Syndicate, Royal Vista Ranches LLC, Agent, and purchased by SE Racing Stables Inc.
Wave Carver is the sire of nearly $8 million, including Champions Bringinonthewave and One Kool Wave.
