Maturity-G1. The ultimate goal for the year now, of course, will be the Champion of Champions in December.
Enrique Gonzalez bred El Aguila Real in California from unplaced I Am All That. El Aguila Real is the mare’s first winner and stakes winner from four starters. I Am All That is a half-sister to Special Sailing, the dam of stakes winner Sailing Czech and stakes-placed Sail To The Beat.
Senor Toby (Mighty Invictus-Micheles Alibi) and jockey Oscar Peinado outfin- ished Noconi (Mr Jess Perry-My Dashing Lady) and jockey Eduardo Nicasio by a head for second. Jaime Gomez trains Senor Toby for owners Brad Lohr and Daniel Reynoso. During his winning streak, Senor Toby captured the A Ransom Handicap, Z. Wayne Griffin Director’s Stakes, a divi- sion of the John Deere Stakes, and the Sgt Pepper Feature Handicap.
Noconi made his Los Alamitos debut in
his Winter Championship trial, where he was the fastest qualifier. Owned by R.D. Hubbard and trained by Paul Jones, he has won 10 stakes, including the 2008 All American Derby-G1 and two editions of the All American Gold Cup-G2 at Ruidoso Downs. Noconi was named Champion 3-Year-Old Gelding in 2008 and Champion Aged Gelding in 2010.

PeRsonAL Mission
Pby Tracy Gantz
ersonal Mission brought a solid 2-year-old record
from Idaho to Los Alamitos, but bettors were unimpressed. They sent him off at nearly 32-1 in his first start, the Jan. 1 Holiday Handicap, and after he finished fifth, they ignored him in the Feb. 17 Huntington Beach Handicap for 3-year-olds.
As the longest price of the eight-horse field at 21-1, Personal Mission won the Huntington Beach for his first stakes victory. In doing so, he became the 1,500th different Quarter Horse to win a stakes in Los Alamitos history.
Breaking from the outside post, Personal Mission ranged up beside leader Larana 09 and battled with her through the stretch. As they approached the wire, Personal Mission and jockey Guillermo Suarez gained ground on the filly, winning the race with a head bob at the wire in :17.787 for the 350 yards.
In Idaho, Personal Mission won four of six races while racing at four different tracks. Reggie Anger bought the colt for $3,000 at the 2010 Heritage Place yearling sale, and he owned and trained the colt
in Idaho. In California, Personal Mission races for owners Guadalupe Gonzalez and Jose Beltran. Mario Loza trains him. Joe Kirk Fulton bred Personal Mission in Texas from winner Tantalizing Eyes. The colt is her first winner from just two starters.
Cesar DeAlba piloted Larana 09 (Senior Solo- Itsnosecretanymore) for owner Daniel Paniagua and trainer Valentin Zamudio.
Chickitita (Tac It Like A Man-The Devine Miss Em) finished third for jockey Francisco Rubio. John Cooper trains the filly for owners Jeryl Hartley and John Firth.
Completing the field were Red Dirt Bono (Bono Jazz-Red Dirt Girl), This Boogie Fires (Walk Thru Fire-Boogie Special), Zoom To The Max (Shazoom- Pursuant), Illegal Smile (FDD Dynasty-Blazin Fire), and FDD Moon (First Down Dash-Moon Arisen).
